After settling the details on the whens and hows of getting the androids to meet the TARDIS, the Doctor went to fetch Varsh and Tiberius from their ship. Without prompting, he started to lecture on the basic construction of the Gallifreyan time-ships, from 'birth' as the result of a complex series of Block Transfer Mathematics equations onwards.
Varsh listened with rapt attention, interrupting the Doctor often with questions, which were answered as patiently as possible. The lecture helped to pass the time as they walked between the park and the TARDIS.
It wasn't long before Varsh felt inexplicably drawn somewhere nearby. Like his predisposition towards movement, Varsh simply could not help but wander off, as if answering a homing beacon. He caught sight of the TARDIS first, an unassuming wooden box slathered over with old and peeling blue paint.
But what Varsh saw was the TARDIS's real form, uninhibited by the Chameleon circuit. He did not perceive the ship as she wished to be seen, but as her true self. She was so much more than a simple blue box.
"Beautiful," he whispered, shuffling his feet awkwardly as he approached her wooden frame. His hand stretched out, touching the side of the box. He sensed the centuries of wear on her, and he honestly believed that made her even more beautiful.
"I...I'm home."
Welcome home.
The Doctor caught up to the TARDIS, and witnessed the reunion, immediately stopping in his tracks. He didn't dare interrupt what was likely a sacred moment for both. The old girl may or may not sense the timeline which branched off and contained Varsh, but the Doctor rather hoped that she did.
[nearly bedtime for me, but needed to get this up.]
