Jack was at an outdoor table in the cafe with a notebook out, alternately thinking and writing, and waiting to pounce on anyone who looked like volunteer material. School was going to be out soon and that meant hordes of young people with nothing better to do than make trouble for themselves and everyone else. And that meant that Aubrey was looking to organize summer activities again. His notebook had lists of potential activities, as well as possible 'volunteers'. 'Volunteer' being anyone who didn't say 'no' loudly or often enough.
He wasn't sure if there had been enough time for people to recover from the 'visiting' children, but he hoped there had been, because he needed to be doing this. The cure for Aubrey grief is work, making things better.
