(Forward Dated to June 5) That Day of the Year Again - OTA, Gathering Style!

Jun 03, 2015 21:28

Today was The Day. If anyone asked how old he was, Draco would throw out a random number - partly because the reactions were fun, and partly because he didn't want to think about it. Plenty of that had gone on the previous year. All the energy Draco would have spent worrying and pontificating about the meaning of life was re-allocated to the ( Read more... )

Maleficent, though she didn't know Draco, walked up just as the preparations were complete, drawn by the magic in the air around most of the decorations.

In particular, she gazed at the broomsticks with some puzzlement.

Draco always had an eye out for anyone remotely interested in broomsticks. The joy of flying was an opportunity too few people took advantage of in the village.

"Racing brooms," he said with a friendly grin as he came up beside the horned woman. "Well, flying brooms at least. Some of these aren't well-suited to proper racing."

The Fae's attention was riveted. "You can fly on these?" she asked incredulously. Or perhaps hungrily. Her bright eyes could easily be interpreted either way.

His grin grew much wider. Draco knew that look all too well. Winter often brought on that look in his mirror.

"Oh yes." He chose a broom, mounted, and hovered about five feet off the groom. "It's a simple device, really. An series of enchantments gives them the ability to defy gravity."

Loki came bearing a green and black-wrapped gift. Well, and his usual grin/smirk.

"Hard to believe I've been free here over a year already."

"Time does tend to slip away here," Draco said by way of agreement and returned the grin. He enjoyed Loki's company was glad the demi-god had decided to make an appearance.

"What's that you've brought for me?"

"A book," Loki said, holding it out to him. "One of the benefits of dating the owner of a book shop is that I'm always around books and tomes. With the village's magic at work, picking out gifts for my friends is rather simple."

"Ah, found someone worthy have you? or are you in it just for that magic shelf?" Draco teased with a grin. "Well, enjoying books is certainly a good start to any relationship, I say. Thank you for the gift."

Khan had been passing the park on his way to the Lemondrop Labs when he spied Draco in the middle of a party celebration, with apparently few celebrants.

He diverted from his plan and headed over towards the host/prime celebrant.

"Draco," he greeted the blonde. "Throwing a party for someone?" he asked.

"Hello there, Khan," he greeted back, and nodded. "Me, actually. Today is my birthday. I've had far too many, so don't bother asking which one this marks."

"The number of them doesn't matter one way or another," Khan replied. "Especially here.

"One either is or is not trainable to be good at what one will do in life, age doesn't factor in to ability, only experience. And looked at another way...

"Time here has no meaning. Even if you have been here for three hundred years, when you return home, you will be exactly the same age as when you left for this village."

"You do have a point. Though I shudder to think of having to re-live my younger years all over again."

He hadn't been that young when he had returned to the village, but Draco was ever the drama queen.

"You are welcome to partake in the festivities here. I've brought a selection of racing brooms - I'm sure that mind of yours would love trying to figure out how they work."

Cedric wasn't about to miss his friend's birthday party, and of course he was wearing one of the silly hats. Smiling, he walked up to Draco and drew the blonde into a hug.

"Happy birthday, old thing."

"Augh!" Draco spouted in mild outrage at the moniker, but returned the hug just the same. "How mean! I've created a monster."

"And all the while, you've been very quietly subverted by my parent-approved wholesomeness." Cedric joked, gesturing at the party around them.

"The village will have us swap bodies any time now, don't you think?"

Draco laughed. "I love it when you talk deviously. And I would not put it past the village to take that suggestion up; don't expect me not to take advantage of your body."

It was Draco's birthday and Annatar would not miss Draco's party. The gift that he'd considered giving at the Easter holiday (in eggs, as seemed to be the fashion) had two more pieces to it now. Why not?

Draco certainly spared no detail, though Annatar took one look at the blue-iced little cakes and knew he wouldn't touch them--unless Draco insisted. There was the mouth-dying food precedent with them, after all.

He was uncertain as to where to leave the gift. Wrapped, it could be from almost anyone.

Please excuse my late tag. Mom visited and life was O.o

Draco was fond of hunting for gift bearers and swooping in on them. Annatar was the easiest to find with his height.

"I see you eying those cupcakes," he teased with a smirk. There was definitely a faint blue tinge to his lips betraying his indulgence.

[no worries! I love all tags equally. :)]

"The colour is most unnatural for food." But Draco knew this. Perhaps that was why he'd chosen such a shade. "I see you've been eating them."

Annatar smiled in a slightly wicked fashion.

"Should I be giving you your gift?" He wasn't going to just hand it over.

Draco touched his lips in an offhand manner, but did not spot any residual coloring on his fingers. He shrugged.

"Immortal tease," Draco said with a tsk. "You love to torture me like this, don't you? That is the true reason you give me gifts."
