Eli wasn't sure how he found himself in this predicament. He had just gone to the bakery for a few scones and a couple of cupcakes for the staff at the lab, but somehow he was now standing just outside of the bakery without having even ventured inside yet. An elderly lady stood beside him leaning on a walker as she watch him with fascinated eyes.

Riley had watched Eli with the older woman and followed him into the bakery. She stepped up behind him in line. "Were you a boy scout at one time because I think that deserved a merit badge."

He turned at the familiar voice and then smiled with a slight laugh. "If I was, I don't remember any of the actual survival training stuff." Much to everyone on Destiny's chagrin, he imagined.

"It's hard not to say no to an old person, you know?"

"I know." Riley agreed. "Though not everyone has our willingness to help especially when it comes to tech things."

"You're good with tech?" It's rare to meet someone good with tech AND probably great with a gun.

"Eli," Khan called to him in his deep monotone. "That was well-done and kind of you."

Even if it was monotone, Khan's voice still had the ability to make Eli feel a pit in his stomach - like somehow the other shoe was going to drop and drop hard.

Still, he turned and offered Khan a smile. "Uh, well... it's not like it was hard work or anything." Frustrating, maybe.

"Not to you, perhaps. But to that woman it was very hard."

Eli had no idea how to read Khan. Did anyone? Maybe Kirk or Spock... if only one of them were here.

"Yeah... I mean, it's new to them, right? You'd have done the same thing I'm sure." Only he wasn't really sure and his voice hinted at that though he was trying to sound positive.
