A day in the sun ... [OTA]

Cedric Diggory was not having a fun and relaxing day at Haurvatat's beach. It might appear that way to onlookers as the young man carried on, clad only in light blue trunks. It certainly looked like he was enjoying himself, whether it was flying a kite or engaging in some peculiar Muggle beach games involving tossing or hitting an object back and ( Read more... )

Chris was busy patching up one of the boats of Haurvatat's small marina that he had pulled up onto the beach. It meant Red was bored and as he often did when Chris was busy, he trotted off along the beach, inspecting things washed up by the swell. But then he noticed the man tossing things around. Now that looked like a lot more fun and he ran over to join in, barking excitedly, tail wagging wildly, ready to play fetch.

The barking alerted the dog's owner and Chris looked up from his work, shielding his eyes against the sun. He quickly assessed the situation as harmless, but not everyone reacted calmly to a big dog running up to him, barking loudly, so he was ready to call Red back if need be.

Cedric was a bit surprised at the sudden appearance of the dog, but his years in the village had given him a decent sense for when something actually intended him harm.

There was none of that feeling coming from the red animal, just a sense of playful joy - something which was entirely welcome.

He danced back and forth a little, it quickly becoming clear that the dog was interested in the blue plastic disc Cedric held in one hand. Waving it a little, Cedric tossed the "friz-bee" on up the beach a bit.

Red chased after the Frisbee and snatched it out of the air. Tail wagging, he ran towards Chris with it.

"Nope, mate, not mine." Chris pointed to the young man. But Red dropped the item in front of his owner. So Chris was forced to pick it up and throw it back to the stranger. Well, nearly. The disc described an elegant curve to the left instead of heading straight towards the young man.

"Sorry 'bout that," Chris shouted while Red once again chased after the disc.

"No worries!" Cedric called back, chuckling. He'd left his wand with the spread-out blanket and small bag of snacks, but perhaps ...

The flying blue disc took an unexpected turn near the end of its trip, curving slowly back towards the young man - who had held out a hand towards it.
