Slushie Tears

Rachel fought back the tears as she walked the length of the hallway to her locker. She ignored the harsh whispered words around her, silently wondering where Noah was. She would have never received that second slushy to the face had he been there. Karofsky would not have dared to toss it on her and ruin her second outfit of the day.

The petite brunette took a deep breath as she opened her locker with a shaky hand and extracted her cell phone from her purse. The number was pressed and sent before she had even finished processing the idea to call him.

She sniffled, “Would it be possible for you to pick me up from school?” she listened to the voice on the other line, closing her eyes as the sound of his voice made her feel a bit better, “I would rather not talk about it at the moment. Just,” she paused fighting back another sniffle, “don’t tell Rose. Thank you. I will wait outside.”

For once, she did not bother to think about the consequences that would occur from her skipping her afternoon classes, but now she honestly could careless. However, Noah would be rather proud of her for finally breaking a rule. He would just be disappointed that she had not skipped with him. The bell rang a final warning for the next period and the hallway emptied, leaving her in solitude.

She has just reached the steps when she heard the familiar rumbling of the jeep as it sped into McKinley’s parking lot and parked at the base of the steps. He was out of the vehicle before she could blink, meeting her in the middle and grabbing her trolley before ushering her in the jeep before she could get any more drenched from the rain.

Settling into the warmth that she knew he did not need but provided for her, Rachel waited for the questions he was just itching to ask. The silence that filled the car the moment they left the school was not something she was expecting. Rachel played with the hem of her skirt, waiting for him to speak. When he finally did, she jumped slightly causing him to chuckle before he sobered.

“Where’s Puckerman?”

She continued to focus on the hem of her skirt, “I didn’t want to disturb him while he was in his classes.” Though she did not see the incredulous look, she felt it as she refused to look at him. “Why are you driving slowly?” She asked, calmly stalling.

“We need to talk. Rose’s home right now.” Rachel nodded as he stole another glance, “so are you going to tell me what happened and why you’re clothes are all covered in frozen blue ice?”

Rachel sighed, toying with her fingers. She had always hoped they would never have to find out about the way the students at school treated her. Even going as far as swearing Noah to secrecy.

“It is nothing more than some delinquent students having some fun.” She stated, watching him from the corner of her eye. His hands gripped the stirring wheel tightly, causing her to instantly reach out to soothe him before he unintentionally killed her. “Emmett relax. I’m used to this.”

“Used to this?” he echoed, golden eyes narrowed on the road ahead, “you’re telling me that this has happened before?” She nodded slowly looking away from him but not once removing her hand from his. “Why didn’t you ever say anything? Does Puck know?”

“Yes, he knows. He usually prevents them but today I was nowhere near him. It gave them the opening they have been waiting for.” She did not want to tell Emmett that it had been Noah who had started the slushy facials. The poor boy would never hear the end of it when he got home.

The scowl that appeared on Emmett’s face bothered her. She had gotten so accustomed to his happy-go-lucky attitude that it was easy to forget how protective he was.

“Emmett?”

He shook his head, “You’re going to have to tell Rose.”

Rachel squeaked, “I will do no such thing.”

The burly man shrugged as a slight smile appeared on his lips, “You kind of have no choice.” He pointed towards the front of the jeep. Rachel followed his finger, wondering when they had reached the house. Even more importantly, how was she going to avoid from telling Rosalie the truth. However, that thought did not matter much as the blonde in question was standing on the porch, eyes trained on the jeep with her arms crossed over her chest.

Finally the end of the day and Puck found himself whistling a happy melody under his breath as he gathered whatever crap he needed for the night. It was Rachel’s fault that he was even really bothering to care about how his school work went. The little midget never let him hear the end of it until he just caved and did as she wanted. It was one of those traits that he both loved and hated about her.

Speaking of the midget, the was going to get an earful the moment he entered the house, Puck was going to skip Glee in favor of making sure his girl was alright. Something had happened earlier and no one felt like they needed to tell him as to why the girl he spent most his time with at school had just up and left earlier in the day. To top it off from the rumors that the Cheerios were spreading, Rachel had been picked up by a burly man in a jeep. His brows knitted together as his brain went into overdrive. What the hell happened that made the girl call Emmett out to pick her up? He was proud of his girl for finally taking a chance and skipping classes for once.

Puck had just slammed his locker shut when he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. That only happened on two occasions. Either Rachel was going to deny him sex or Rosalie was on a rampage. He froze when he realized the usually loud hallway was silent. Confused he turned his head to see the golden eyed blonde glaring at him.

He smiled lazily, taking a step back before greeting her, “Rose, what the hell are you doing here?”

Her eyes narrowed dangerously, “Don’t play sweet Puckerman. Do you know what this is?” She thrust a handful of fabric into his face.

Puck blinked, “Why are you shoving Rachel’s clothes in my face?” He did a double take, “isn’t that what she was wearing earlier?”

Rosalie nodded, tilting her head to the side, “Care to explain what this is?”

She shook out the sweater Rachel had been wearing that morning and Puck couldn’t help the growl that emitted from him at the sight of the slushy marks.

“Who slushied her?”

A perfectly shaped brow rose, “I was hoping you would tell me. She came home crying you know.”

Puck sighed, running a hand over his Mohawk, “why didn’t she come to me about it?”

Rosalie smirked, “Apparently she didn’t want to interrupt you education,” Puck rolled his eyes muttering ‘of course she wouldn’t’ under his breath. The blonde shook her head, “but I’m not here for that. I want to know who did this and I will be making sure they never do it again.”

Eyeing the blonde with dangerously narrowed eyes, “I’ll handle this. You need to calm down and go back home before you cause a scene.” His eyes dragged over the people littering the hallway, “I already see the rumors that are going to start.”

“I don’t really care, Puckerman. No one makes Rachel cry and gets away with it,” yes, he knows that. He once fell victim to Rosalie’s wrath. Shit wasn’t pretty, though it certainly had Emmett in stitches, and all he did was forget their anniversary. “Find out who need this,” her arms crossed when he didn’t move and pulled a move directly out of Rachel’s book as she tapped her foot, “now.”

Her eyes flashed dangerously. Puck didn’t have to be told twice. He scanned the hall for anyone who’d be a good source of information. He smirked as Jew-fro came into view. Making a beeline for the repulsive boy, Puck reached out and slammed his locker shut.

“Yo, Jacob,” the boy cowered as Puck leered down at him.

“Whatever it was I didn’t do it,” Jacob hurriedly cried.

Puck rolled his eyes, “Whatever, look I need some information and since I know you still stalk Berry around you’re my best choice.” He ignored the growl that came from behind him, rolling his shoulder as he continued, “Who slushied Rachel this morning?”

The fizzy haired teen swallowed, “Karofsky,” pointing down the hall.

Puck cursed under his breath, releasing the cowering Jew not caring when he scurried away. “I should have known.”

He turned to the still furious blonde. “So Karofsky is?”

The Mohawk haired frowned, nodding down at the beefy footballer. “That’s Karofsky, but I’ll” he trailed off at the blonde made her way to the football player. He shook his head, watching as she pushed her way through his friends. The moment he saw Karofsky laugh, he knew the shit hit the fan. Rosalie grabbed the larger man’s collar and drug him into the nearest classroom. Puck had to give the other players some props to know better than to try and follow, the moment the door was closed they scattered.

Puck sighed and returned to his locker leaning against it as he waited for Rosalie to finish whatever it was she was doing to the poor boy. It was pretty hilarious when a rather manly yell came from the closed classroom, causing more than a few straggling students to jump. The blonde strutted out of the room a few minutes later, a satisfied smile on her lips. She looped her hand through his arm and lead them to his truck.

“Rose…what did you do?” he couldn’t stop himself from asking.

She gave him an innocent smile, “Not to much, but he wouldn’t be bothering my little Berry anytime soon.”

Puck shook his head, catching sight of the Glee club and their curious stares. He could tell tomorrow was going to be an interesting day filled with so many questions.

“Berry!” Puck practically yelled when they entered the house, he dumped his shit on the floor with out a care. Soft muttering drew them to the living room. He froze at the sight. Emmett and Rachel sat on the couch, well Emmett sat on the couch. Rachel rested on her side with her head on Emmett’s lap. One of the man’s hand gently moving through her hair as he rose the other to his lips to shush him. Rosalie walked pass the still teen, leaning down to kiss the sleeping girl’s temple before taking the empty spot on Emmett’s right. Puck shook his head and smiled, walking forward to sit on the floor beside Emmett’s leg.

“How’d it go?” Emmett asked softly.

Rose smirked, “It’s taken care of.”

Puck smiled as he read the expressions on their faces that clearly showed how much they loved the girl and they‘d go through great lengths to keep her safe.

End.
