i kind of came to terms with the fact that mankind is inherently evil several years ago, which at least makes things easier to understand... if far more abysmal overall. i mean, there is good, too, in the world obviously... but it seems to be in human nature that left to our own devices with no laws or outside influce, we'd pretty much wipe ourselves out in a few years. maybe its some mutated form of the survival instinct, but in the vast majority of people i'm pretty sure "what i want right this second" would rank far far higher in priority than "what is best for the world as a whole" if social norms hadnt told us all that was bad since we were watching sesame street at 3 and learning about the evil of not sharing.
