Summary: Blaine kisses Kurt.
Notes: I was rewatching the kiss for the millionth time and I noticed how Blaine presses his lips to Kurt's but doesn't really move or demand anything. And so this was born. At 3am.
He waits. His lips pressed, firm and present but unmoving against Kurt's.
He waits, because even though he's finally, finally realized how he feels about Kurt - and he couldn't want anything more right now - he won't presume he can just have him. He needs Kurt to want him, too. And he needs Kurt to show him that he wants him. He's already taken a big dangerous leap by initiating the kiss. He can't demand reciprocation as well.
So, he waits.
In the five seconds he waits for Kurt to respond, his mind races through a million different questions and fears. What if he doesn't want me anymore? Maybe I missed my shot. Maybe I shouldn't have kissed him; it's just bringing up bad memories. If Kurt doesn't want this, I am officially the worst friend in the world. What if I ruined us? I can't lose him.
It seems like hours. But still, he waits.
He thinks about how soft Kurt's skin is under the pads of his fingers which have taken up residence cupped against his cheek. He thinks about how amazing Kurt smells - like some subtle, clean, vaguely masculine cologne - familiar, yet somehow new. He thinks about how amazing it feels to have his lips against Kurt's even though they are still. He thinks about how, if he's lucky, there's a minute possibility that this could become a regular thing - kissing Kurt. The butterflies gather and dance in his stomach.
And he waits.
Then finally (finally, finally!) he feels Kurt's sharp intake of breath through his nose. He feels Kurt's slender fingers reach for his face and cup it; a mirror image of his own posture. And then, Kurt is kissing him back, pulling away the tiniest bit to readjust their lips for a second, deeper kiss. It's perfect and he couldn't be happier. The butterflies are going crazy.
As they part and he pulls back, he searches Kurt's face for final confirmation that this is what Kurt wants. He gets it. Kurt looks stunned but overjoyed. He smiles a smile at Kurt that he hopes translates to: that was the most amazing kiss in the history of kisses. I want to do this with you for the rest of my life.
He waited. A mere five seconds, but nonetheless, he waited. He's really glad he only had to wait five seconds, but as a blush washes over his face and he has trouble keeping eye contact, he knows he would gladly wait an eternity to be with Kurt.
