Tommy stretched and groaned, looking around. He snickered when he spotted Adam curled up against the other end of the couch in a massive ball. “Fucking giant,” he mumbled, then stood up, cringing at all his joints and muscles hating him. “Adam,” he mumbled, voice thick with sleep. He shoved him. “Adam, wake up,” he said, only to giggle when Adam made sleepy noises and shook his head, curling up tighter. “Pssss, Adam, wake up,” he said, shoving at him again.
“No Brad, ten more minutes,” Adam mumbled, ducking his head.
Tommy raised an eyebrow. “It’s Tommy, not Brad, and you’re asleep on my couch,” he said, and Adam suddenly looked up through sleepy, half opened eyes.
“Wow, you aren’t Brad,” he mumbled, then whined, rubbing his hands over his face. He uncurled and stretched out across the couch, taking up the whole couch and then some. He looked up again. “You know, you kinda do look like Brad,” he said, then sat up sleepily. “What time is it?” he asked.
Tommy shrugged. “Dunno,” he said. “Probably really late,” he said. He grabbed the remote and turned off the TV. He walked over to look into his room at the alarm clock and groaned. “Fuck,” he turned and walked back to where Adam was still sitting, trying to get his brain working again. “It’s like, almost four in the morning,” he said.
Adam stood up. “Eurgh, I need go to home,” he said, rubbing at his face still. He leaned over to grab his shoes, only to stumble and nearly fall over.
“You okay?” Tommy asked, walking over to grab his arm.
Adam groaned. “I’m so tired,” he mumbled as he sat back down.
Tommy frowned. “Hey, you probably shouldn’t drive,” he said, sitting down beside him.
Adam sighed. “You’re probably right,” he said, yawning. “But I’ve got to be at rehearsal at noon,” he said.
Tommy shrugged. “Just sleep here and then go home when you aren’t likely to wrap your car around a tree,” he said.
Adam yawned. “I don’t want to get in the way-“
“Dude, I really don’t want you to kill yourself on the way home,” Tommy argued. “It’s cool, really,” he said.
Adam smiled. “Well thanks,” he said. “I’ll just crash on the couch, I guess,” he said, flopping back against the cushions.
Tommy shook his head. “You can have my bed, I’ll sleep out here,” he said.
“No, I’m already imposing staying here-“
“Adam, you don’t fit on the couch!” he argued. “Seriously, it’s cool. I can at least fit all of me on the couch,” he said, and Adam smiled.
“Alright,” he said. He stood up. “Through there?” he asked, and Tommy nodded as he pointed at Tommy’s bedroom door.
Tommy grabbed some of the couch pillows and the throw on the back and laid down, curling up on the lumpy couch with the thin blanket. His tossing around made him not hear Adam walking back out.
“You know-“ Tommy squeaked and flailed, getting tangled in the blanket, only to peek up at Adam with a sheepish look. Adam snickered. “I was just going to say, your bed’s big enough for both of us,” he said. “Obviously, you’re not doing so well on the couch,” he teased.
Tommy rolled his eyes. “Yeah, but I didn’t figure you’d want to share a bed with me. It’s sorta weird,” he said.
“So?” Adam rolled his eyes. “Dude, I’ve slept three to a bed with dancers before. It’s just sleeping,” he teased. “I mean, I’ve shared a bed with my brother,” he said.
Tommy stood up, smiling as he wiggled around, trying to get out of the blanket. “Um… help?” he asked with a faint blush on his cheeks.
Adam smirked as he walked over and helped Tommy get out of the throw blanket. Once he finally got free, Tommy tossed it on the couch with a bit more force than necessary. “You showed that blanket,” Adam teased, and Tommy gave him a flat look.
“I’m letting you sleep in my bed, you can be nicer you know,” he said, leading the way to his bedroom.
Adam rolled his eyes as he slid into the other side from the one Tommy took. “Your bed is small,” he said, wiggling around. “I’m pretty sure my feet are hanging off the end,” he said.
Tommy rolled his eyes and rolled around to face Adam. “I’m not six foot tall and I’m single, I don’t need a big bed,” he said. He sleepily reached out and put a hand on Adam’s mouth. “Now sleepy,” he whined.
Adam rolled his eyes and pulled Tommy’s hand off his face. He wiggled closer. “You must not bring many dates home, because seriously, I’m falling off the bed on this side and my feet are dangling off the end,” he said.
Tommy rolled his eyes sleepily. “Dude, I haven’t had sex in like… seven years or something. That thing before Anna’s fifth birthday, that’s the last time I got anywhere near sex,” he mumbled sleepily.
Adam gaped. “Holy shit, how have you not died?!” he asked, then snickered. “Poor thing,” he teased.
Tommy whined. “Shut up about my sex-less life and let me sleeeeeppp!” he whined.
Adam chuckled. “Alright, goodnight,” he said, closing his eyes.
Tommy smiled as he closed his eyes as well. “Goodnight.”

Adam hummed sleepily as he woke up. He wiggled closer to the warmth in his arms, tightening his hold.
“You know, you’re going to squish me if you keep on.” Adam opened his eyes and squeaked as he was met with nothing but white hair in his vision.
“Holy shit!” he cried, squirming back. He blinked as Tommy rolled over. “Oh God, dude, I’m sorry,” he said, cringing.
Tommy giggled. “It’s cool, but I was starting to have trouble breathing,” he said. “You have an iron grip when you’re cuddling something like a teddy bear,” he teased. “I ended up counting the freckles on your hand to pass the time I couldn’t escape,” he said.
Adam rolled his eyes, then cringed. “Ew, I must have makeup smeared all over your pillow,” he said, looking down at the pillow.
Tommy shrugged. “Eh, just mix with the stains of my makeup on the pillows,” he said. He yawned. “Has anybody told you you’re like a furnace when you sleep?” he asked with a small smile.
Adam nodded. “Yeah, my ex loved it because he was a tiny little shit and got cold so easy,” he said.
Tommy laughed. “I do that too. I guess it’s a skinny and small thing,” he said. “Is your ex the one you called me last night?” he asked. “Brad?”
Adam groaned and nodded. “Yeah, I guess I was half asleep and- well, to be honest,” he bit his lip. “You looked just like Brad, only blonde,” he said. “Well, you don’t have his cheeks, but that’s sort of why he’s caused ‘Cheeks’,” he added. “But seriously, size, eyes, nose, lips… its all just the same,” he said.
Tommy smiled. “That’s funny, because everybody else tells me I look like a pixie,” he said.
Adam smiled. “That’s your pixie ears,” he said, reaching out to touch his ears. “You’ve got cute little pointy ears,” he teased.
Tommy swatted his hand. “Hey, I pierced them to try and make them less pixie-like,” he argued.
Adam smirked. “You just look like a rocker pixie instead.”
Tommy smiled sleepily and yawned. “I don’t want to move,” he said.
Adam smiled. “I don’t either but I’ve got to pee,” he said, sliding out of bed. Tommy just rolled over as he disappeared out into the hall.
Tommy raised an eyebrow when Adam came back and climbed back into the bed. “I sort of figured you were going to leave. It’s already ten,” he said.
Adam shrugged. “It’s warm in here,” he said, curling under the covers. “Unless you want me to leave,” he said, starting to sit up.
Tommy rolled his eyes. “I don’t care,” he said, and Adam smiled, curling back in. He looked at Adam and smiled. “You washed your face,” he said, and Adam nodded.
“I’ve got makeup in my car,” he said, and Tommy smiled. Tommy looked at him and Adam ducked his head. “Stop, I’m icky without makeup,” he said.
Tommy shook his head. “I think you’re actually really good looking without it,” he said. He smiled and bit his lip. “The freckles are so cute,” he said, and Adam blushed.
“I hate them. I mean, look at my lips! It’s gross,” he said, pouting.
Tommy shook his head. “I love freckles. They’re so cute,” he said. “And I like how without the mascara you’ve got light eyelashes,” he said, and Adam cringed. “It’s so cute!” he teased.
“No its not!” Adam complained.
Tommy rolled his eyes. “You picked on my pointy ears, I’m going to keep picking on your cute freckles,” he teased. “You know, I’m so jealous of how manly you look. I look like a teenage girl half the time,” he said, sighing. “You’ve got a manly face and you’re big and manly,” he said, huffing as he pouted.
Adam smiled. “Eh, I may look it, but I’m about as manly as Monte’s four year old,” he said.
Tommy giggled. “I don’t know, you seem like you have a pretty manly presence,” he said.
Adam shrugged. “I don’t know, I’m really protective of the people I care about, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a ‘manly’ thing.” He shrugged. “I like making sure the people in my life know how much I care about them, and like… I don’t like when my friends and family and boyfriends aren’t happy,” he said. “I like to take care of the people in my life and help them,” he said. “I guess that would seem manly to some people but as far as classic manly things like… sports and dirt and cars and stuff… I’m not really into it,” he said.
Tommy snorted. “You have to be kidding, you’ve got that sexy car and you’re not into cars?!” he asked.
Adam blinked. “It’s pretty and shiny and sounds cool,” he said, and Tommy gave him a blank look.
“Shiny and sounds cool?!” he asked. “Oh my God, you’ve got an AMAZING car!” he looked at him. “Please don’t tell me that thing is automatic transmission,” he said.
Adam ducked his head. “You mean the gear shifting thing?” he asked, and Tommy nodded. “Yeah, I don’t want to be clutching through LA traffic!” he said indignantly.
Tommy groaned. “I lied, there isn’t a drop of testosterone in your body,” he said, and Adam laughed. “Seriously, that’s wrong,” he said. “Nothing’s like driving a fast car and shifting for yourself,” he said.
Adam rolled his eyes. “You’re such a boy,” he said, and Tommy snickered.
“Well I have a kid. If I wasn’t a boy, I’d really wonder how I got a girl pregnant,” he said.
Adam just chuckled. “That would be a problem,” he said.
“Dad! What are we doing tod- oh, sorry.” Tommy sat up and saw Anna standing in the doorway.
“What’s up midget?” Tommy asked.
She raised an eyebrow pointedly. “Not much. What are we doing today?” she asked.
“I don’t know. We can try that new taco place for lunch if you want,” he said.
She just nodded. “Right,” she shot him another look and then walked out.
Adam snickered. “That’ll take explaining,” he said, and Tommy groaned.
“The worst part is I have a feeling I know what she’s thinking,” he said, and Adam smiled. “And I really don’t want to know how she even knows what I think she’s thinking,” he said.
Adam snickered. “Dude, she’s twelve! Not two,” he said.
Tommy sighed. “True.” He groaned. “Oh well, I think it’s just the fact she’s never seen me sharing a bed with anybody,” he said.
Adam suddenly blinked. “That’s right, you said last night you haven’t had sex in years!” he said. “Dude, how are you not dead?” he asked.
Tommy snorted. “You do survive without sex, I promise,” he said. “It’s actually easier the longer you go without. You just get used to not expecting any,” he said. “I mean, I’ve had two girlfriend since I’ve had Anna and even then, I never had time for sex,” he said. “When you’ve got a job, a kid, and friends and the person you’re with has a job and friends, it’s not easy to work out time alone together,” he said. “And Delmy just pissed me off when she wanted me to go off on a trip with her for a weekend and leave my kid with my mom,” he said. “I mean, sure a lot of parents do it, but I missed out on five years with my daughter as it is. I may go out with my friends on a Saturday night and leave her with my mother, but three whole days without seeing Anna?!” He shook his head. “Not happening as long as I can control it. I mean, eventually she’ll have school trips and one day she’ll move off to college, but that just gives me even more motivation to spend as much time with her as I can while I can,” he said.
Adam smiled. “I can see both sides, really. I mean, I can understand your girlfriend wanting some time with just you, but like you said, you missed five years and kids grow up fast,” he said. “I can understand what you’re saying as well,” he said. “And I mean, if your girlfriend loved you, she should have accepted that she’s got to give up some of her time to spend time with you too.”
Tommy shrugged. “She tried, but she had a big social life too, you know? And she would take me out with her to places with her friends, but I hated them, so I started making excuses not to go. And I’m sure if we’d REALLY tried, there would’ve been time for being alone, but I mean… she could never stay the night, and if I went to stay at her place while Anna was spending the night with my parents, she would always be on the phone with people half the time I was there, and it pissed me off that she’d spend all her time we were supposed to FINALLY be alone talking to people. And being pissed at someone really doesn’t set any sort of mood, does it?” he joked.
Adam smiled. “Not really,” he said. “Relationships always take a lot of work for me usually,” he said. “I mean, Brad’s the only person I’ve ever really loved and we were good for a year or so, but it just started going downhill from there because we wanted different things from the relationship,” he said. “I mean, I probably did want more than he was ready to give, but we’re still really good friends,” he said, shrugging. “That was a while ago. Five years, I think,” he said.
Tommy shrugged. “Sometimes people can be everything you want but it just doesn’t work,” he said. “Or, it could be like me and Mia. We’re absolutely perfect for each other. My mom wishes so hard we’d get together because we’re best friends,” he said. “But that’s it. I mean, Mia’s beautiful and amazing, but I couldn’t love her in a romantic sense if my life depended on it,” he said. “And she’s the same. I’m one of the most important people to her, but if we tried dating we’d have a happy family between the three of us, but we’d never REALLY be happy,” he said.
Adam nodded. “That’s sort of how it is now with Brad. I won’t ever regret what we had, because it’s the only time I was ever truly in love, but at the same time it messed me up,” he admitted. “I mean, I haven’t had a serious relationship since. I’ve had a few boyfriends, but never more than a year and never anything I could call serious,” he said. He sighed and pouted some. “And now I’m thirty and I’ll probably never find true love,” he said softly.
Tommy smiled. “Yeah, I’ve pretty much resigned to that myself,” he said. “Anna wants me to find someone so bad. She wants me to be happy, and it kills me that I don’t think it’s going to happen,” he said. “And then Monte said that maybe Anna wants someone else around too and that really fucked with my head,” he said. “I mean… maybe she does need more. I know I’m good enough, but he used the example of how she has nobody to turn to when I’m pissing her off.”
Adam smiled. “You tell her she can call me and bitch about you whenever she wants,” he teased. “I’m a great listener, as you know.”
Tommy smiled. “Sweet, that saves me from having to find someone just to make her happy,” he said, and Adam rolled his eyes.
“Never do that. Right now, promise me you won’t ever just date someone to appease somebody else,” he said. “I mean, everybody is entitled to have fun and play the field and whatever, but if you want to be alone, don’t let anybody else make that decision. Just like how I want to find true love. I want my happily ever after. I have since I was a teenager.” He looked at Tommy. “And now matter how old I get, and even if I never find my soul mate or whatever, I’m going to keep looking. I’m not going to just pick someone and deal with it. Be yourself. That’s the one thing I hate is when people aren’t themselves,” he said passionately.
Tommy smiled sweetly. “You really are amazing to talk to,” he said, and Adam shrugged bashfully.
“Yeah, I’ve been told.”
