“Once upon a time, I watched a young boy climbing up a mountain, he had been climbing for what seemed like years, but all of a sudden he fell, and as he fell, I ran as fast as I could and when he reached the bottom, I caught him.”
Mountains.
It was late, very late, 11:50pm to be exact.
Dongho dragged his feet over the cold concrete underneath him.
He wasn’t sure where he was or where he had been but he knew where he was going.
When he had reached a busy road, he realized he was no longer in control, his feet began to trail off into the midst of the beeping horns and screeching brakes, he supposed he must have dropped his heart in a gutter somewhere and his mind had given up trying to persuade him that someone does care.
When he reached his destination, the shared apartment , he found himself walking in as if he were invisible, he had gave up asking for anyone to care, all he wanted was to be left alone, to be gone.
He crawled into his room where Kiseop lay fast asleep, or so Dongho thought.
“Dongho? Is that you?” he heard Kiseop murmur, still half asleep.
“I came home, don’t worry, I’m fine” He reassured his band mate, after all everyone is allowed to tell a white-lie once in a while although Dongho was pretty sure his whole life had become a lie.
“Come here” he heard that same voice whisper although this time, Kiseop’s voice was gentle and understanding.
Dongho stripped out of his jeans and shirt and climbed into Kiseop’s bed, he felt a warm hand wrap around him, pulling him closer.
He bit his lip, all too much, tasting blood along with regret of returning home, then he broke down, he moaned and whimpered and finally felt sorry for himself.
“I just feel like I’ve been climbing a huge mountain for years and all of a sudden my feet begin to ache and I just fall backwards and don’t stop until suddenly I hit the ground hard, then I look up and all I can see is that huge mountain that I tried so hard to climb but failed, and as I’m looking up, suddenly I see my dreams fall down too” he whispered, before tears engulfed him.
“I have a story” Kiseop slowly turned Dongho round to face him.
“Once upon a time, I seen a young boy climbing up a mountain, he had been climbing for what seemed like years, but all of a sudden he fell, and as he fell, I ran as fast as I could and when he reached the bottom, I caught him.”
“What about his dreams?” Dongho mumbled, unsure of where this conversation was going.
“Well, sadly he had too many dreams for me to catch, but I intend to help him create new ones” Kiseop kissed Dongho’s head, stroking his hair as the young boy drifted off, back to the bottom of the mountain to start again.
