And the savior saved the pirate.

“Henry is staying with me tonight,” Regina said, her eyes boring into Emma. “After what you did, that’s not open for discussion.”

Emma nodded. “That’s fine. He can stay with you until I find a place for us here in Storybrook, and get all our stuff moved from New York. That should take a few weeks at least. And after that, we’ll work something out. He’s your son too, and I don’t want to keep him from you.”

Regina relaxed slightly and nodded. “Thank you.”

Emma opened her moth, and then closed it. She paused, considering the right words. “I’m not out to get you Regina. I do want you to be happy. You are not the Evil Queen any longer.”

“We are not discussing this,” Regina said. “You’ve already done the damage. Talking is not going to solve anything.”

“True love has a way of working out in the end,” Emma said softly. “And if it’s any consolation, you don’t need to live with the guilt of knowing you killed the wife of the man you love.”

“I said that we are not discussing it,” Regina said.

“I know,” Emma said. “I just don’t want you to start a war over this. Can we just agree that we both do what’s best for Henry, and that is that we get along. Or at least appear to get along.”

Regina nodded. “Fine. For Henry.”

“No cursing me,” Emma said. “No using magic to get me stuck in New York or anything.”

“I said fine,” Regina said. “I will leave you, and your pirate alone. It’ll be fun enough to watch you tow crash and burn on your own.”

Emma stared at her for a moment before nodding. “Thank you. I’m sure I’ll make enough of a mess of things by myself.”

She Walks

She walks in beauty
Except she doesn't.
She doesn't walk like the princess she is either.

Instead she walks like a warrior.
Someone bent on taking on the world
and coming out on top.

Like someone who has only seen
disappointment
heartache
bad luck.

The savoir, who sometimes
seems unable to save herself.

“Come on Swan,” Killian said with a grin as he held out his hand. “To my chambers.”

She nodded without looking up from the chair she was sitting in. “In a minute.”

He frowned and knelt beside her. “What’s wrong?”

“I shouldn’t have brought her back,” Emma said shaking her head. “I shouldn’t have interfered.”

“Can you let that go?” Killian asked. “Just for tonight. And tomorrow we’ll think of something.”

“I feel bad,” Emma said. “I didn’t think, and I should have and now I’ve made a mess of things, again.”

“You saved someone’s life Swan,” Killian said patiently. “You saved the town again, and you saved a young woman from death.”

“I ruined Regina’s life,” Emma said. “Again.”

“No, you didn’t,” Killian said. “You saved her too. If Robin is her true love, and if they are meant to be, then they will find a way. Things will work out for them. And Regina will not have to carry around the guilt of having been the one to kill Robin’s wife.”

“I don’t think that Regina even knew she killed her,” Emma said.

“Maybe she didn’t,” Killian replied. “Maybe she always escaped. Maybe you bringing her was what had always happened to her. Maybe you were just fulfilling your role as the savior once again.”

“Do you think so?” Emma asked, looking up at him.

“I will believe whatever it takes to get you into my bed,” Killian said with a slight grin as he stood.

Emma grinned at him despite herself. “It’s all about you isn’t it?”

He shrugged. “I can promise that I will make it worth your while to put this concern of yours off until tomorrow.”

She shook her head and smiled. “I guess I can be persuaded to forget about for a little while.”

He held his hand out, and helped her from the chair. “I promise to make you forget everything for a little while.”

She laughed as she took his hand. “Cocky.”

“Confident,” he said. “And by the end of the night, you’ll know why.”

Letter/Journal

Emma,
Not a day goes by that I don't remember you. That I don't think about what could have been. I will find you. I will do whatever I need to in order to see you again. For so long the Jolly Roger was all that mattered to me. Adventures on the open sea and nothing more. You changed all that. You changed me.

I though knew love before I met you. I stole Rumplestiltskin's wife because she wanted a life of adventure and hated her husband for the coward she believed him to be. I thought she was everything that I could want. And I believed that I loved her. I took Baelfire in because I was the one that destroyed his family, and I wanted a chance at redemption.

None of that was enough. But you, you were enough. You are enough. Your strength, and wit, and the ability you have to put up with me. You are everything that I want. You are everything that I need. If I have to choose between finding you, and anything else, everything else, I will always choose you.

There is a curse bearing down on me, and I'm running for my life. For our lives. I will do whatever I need to do to beat this curse and find you. Partly because you are the savior, and everyone needs you once again. But also because I need you. And I can only home that you need me too.

Always,
Killian

"I didn't know," she whispered against his chest. "I didn't mean to ruin things for her."

"I know," he said, pulling her close. "And she knows it too. She's just upset."

"I feel like all I do it take things from her," she said. "I don't mean to. I don't mean to hurt her."

Emma felt Killian's arms tighten around her as she began to cry. Hurting Regina was never intentional. Even if she had been the Evil Queen she wasn't anymore. Now she was family.

"I need to fix it," she said.

Killian kissed her softly. "And we will."

The savior seeking forgiveness from the evil queen. Something that she never thought that she would want or need. But in the end, she did - they both did.

All Magic Comes with a Price

I love this theme in OUAT. The reminder that while magic may get you out of the current situation that you’re in - it shouldn’t be used as a get out of jail free card. All magic comes with a price. In the mortal world - we tend to call it Karma. What goes around, comes around. There are consequences to every action. Magic heightens that idea, and takes it further. The price is more unpredictable.

In many ways, the only thing that Regina has ever wanted was to be able to love who she wanted to. Her power and her magic came about because of her inability to do so. Her fascination with magic came to be because of her inability to have the one person that she had fallen in love with. The idea of power, replaced the idea of love for her. The price of power - of magic - was her loss of love.

Instead of loving others around her, as the Evil Queen she fulfilled the role of tearing others away from those they love. She manipulated the idea of love and twisted it into something dark er and more evil. She took the heart of the person she loved the most just to create a spell to ruin love for everyone else.

So many of her actions separated people from those that they loved. Including Robin and Marion. The separation of this love, is what comes back to haunt her. Just in the moment that she finally believes that she can love, and be loved in return - the moment when it seems as though the Evil Queen fully falls away and she is free to becomes Regina again. That's the moment when the price of magic comes back. The moment that Marion walks into the restaurant - that isn't Emma muddling with things. That's Karma coming back the Regina.
