Bulletproof
An Emma Swan fic

Bulletproof

She knew what Regina was doing. She knew she was slowly turning the entire town against her. And she wanted nothing more than to run away. Go back to her life and forget about the couple of days that she had spent in Storybrooke.

Except there was that kid. That kid that she knew was a part of her. And a part of Neil. And when she looked at him, she could see herself and Neal in him. It didn't matter how everything else had turned out in her life. It didn't matter that Neal had double crossed her or that she had given away her son when he was a new born. All that mattered was that she could feel that he was the best part of her and Neal and she wanted to be around him.

After Neal left her, she had sworn to herself that she was done letting anyone in. She was done with the romance and the passion fueled kisses. She was done allowing anyone to hurt her when the turned and walked away. She was done believing that love would find her. She would be fine on her own.

The kid had changed all of that. From the moment he showed up on her doorstep she could feel him getting into her heart. She felt connected to him, and even if he was ripped away from her, she knew that she would never regret the pain that may come from helping him and letting him in.

Plus the kid needed help. She could clearly see that Regina hadn't been the best influence on him. It was no wonder he thought that everyone was part of some twisted fairy tale. He needed her. That was why he had gone to New York and found her, and she wasn't going to let him down. She had done enough of that in her life already.

She knew what it was go grow up alone and without parents. When she put her son up for adoption she thought that she was giving him the chance that she never had. But in the end, she had still failed him.

No more.

Regina didn't know who she was messing with. She was used to pushing around a child, and Emma was far from that. She had seen too much, and done too much in her life to break under the pressure of a corrupt person who was drunk on their own power.

She was bulletproof.

And she wasn't going to let Regina be the one to tear her down. She was going to rise to the challenge and beat Regina at her own game. Regina was nothing more than a bully, and she did so love the put people like that in their place.

With a nod, she tightened the laces on her boots, mentally preparing herself for her next battle. She wasn't going anywhere and if Regina was going to start the fight, she was sure that it would be up to her to end it.

Now all she needed was a chainsaw.
