Super Megumi to the rescue! (I fail. D:)
She huffs noisily when he lets her in, and he's not entirely sure which of them has more right to be annoyed. It's an hour that he's sure is too damn early for him to be awake, not to mention the fact that he specifically called in because he didn't feel well enough to work.
But she sweeps in and heads straight for his kitchen, setting a bag down on his table and taking out several items. Yokoyama follows her quietly, unsure-- "Ne, Megu--"
"Erika said she heard from Keiko who said she heard from Jun who heard from Aiba who heard from--" Megumi pauses, "Huh. Apparently that chain of connection ends with Aiba-san. Anyway. He said you weren't coming in to work today and that you'd been looking a little peaky. On that note: LIE DOWN, Yu-kun."
Yu's jaw drops from the sheer... he didn't even know. "First of all," he begins indignantly, but she holds up a hand, one finger in the air.
"Don't even. I already know exactly what you're going to say, and I'm saying as your good friend that I'm overruling you. On everything." Megumi leaves the groceries to push him back to the bedroom. "You really don't look well."
"I'm fine," he protests weakly, although he does let her push him around. Once he was seated on the bed, she began to look around, eyebrows drawn together in barely concealed irritation.
"I don't even know how you can live like this, Yokoyama Yu," she states decisively, rolling her eyes as she picks up his clothes and toys, scattered on the floor. Again he finds himself protesting to this, but she refuses to be deterred. Only when she ventures to his TV area to upend a DVD boxset of Dragon Ball does he find himself springing to action. There were some very, um, educational material behind it and he really didn't need her to see that.
She sees through him, of course, and declares, "Pathetic!", grinning to soften the insult. She ventures to the other side of the room, picking up a medicine bottle on the way and examining the label, admonishing him all the while.
"I brought some medicine with me," she says, nodding, satisfied, after arranging his desk. "One of everything. I don't know what makes Kansai men better. No-- don't even answer that, Yu-kun," she finishes, sweeping out of his room. "Rest. If I don't see any resting when I come back, there will be hell to pay."
He resists the urge to stick his tongue out at her back. That'd be just childish.
Moments later he hears her puttering around in his kitchen, discovering that she had a habit of talking to herself as he hears her voice as she looks around for a pan, then a spatula, then some plates. Yu lies down, half-afraid that she would come back and discover him not-resting; he didn't know what 'hell to pay' meant to Sato Megumi, but it could either be very enjoyable, or make him lose the will to live. He decides not to push his luck.
"Banana pancakes!~" she announces later on, walking into his room with a tray. "I didn't know what'd make you feel better, but Okaasan always makes some for me when I'm sick, so it should work as well, shouldn't it?" Megumi chatters on, blissfully unaware, as he watches her in awe set it up on the table next to his bed.
When she doesn't hear a response from him, she looks up, a look of concern on her face. "Or don't you like them? Are you allergic? I didn't even think to ask! Are you--"
"Megumi."
She blinks at him dumbly. "Yu-kun, you're all red in the face. Do you have a fever, too?" Her hand comes up automatically to his forehead, and he finds himself grabbing her wrist.
A moment passes.
"Yu... kun?" she repeats slowly. Her face is very close-- so close that he can see her eyeshadow, a very subtle blue shade. Her eyes are very, very round, and below that--
Yu leans forward, touches his lips to her forehead. "Thank you, Mecchan."
She smiles up at him-- a shy, almost unsure of herself smile. Next thing they know her phone is ringing shrilly in her pocket and she's being called back to Stardust.
"Eat up and get well soon~" she says, slinging her bag over her shoulder. "Mail me if you need anything, all right?" Then she's gone and he's left with her banana pancakes, the smell of her cologne, and the memory of her smile.
