Not pickiness, it's more like neurosis. I usually travel by train and when I'm in Tokyo I travel using an IC card called PASMO. (It's like cards called ICOCA and KITACA in other areas.)
So, you use the card by charging it with money and recently you can just buy stuff with the card. Now, onto the matter at hand, when you hold that card next to the automatic ticket gate to get on the train, it shows you how much you have left on the card. So, in my case, I seriously find it inexcusable if the last digit of the amount is any number other than zero. That IC card is primarily supposed to be used for getting on the train. The last digit in Japan train fare, like 130 yen and 250 yen, is always zero. Therefore, when using that IC card, no matter what is bought, I want the last digit to be zero.
The other day, I suddenly wanted to drink something when I was in the station and bought the drink with the card, but because the drink was 105 yen, the last digit became, of all things, 5, and the situation became irritating beyone belief. But just a moment ago, I bought something that was 105 yen with the card, so the last digit is finally zero again.
Ahh, I feel better.

I totally understand what Tatsu's talking about. The last digit of my Suica is not zero because I bought something at the Kiosk and it irks me every time I pass through the ticket gate. Doesn't it make you happy when you hear someone is bothered by the same things as you? Well, it seems to bother Tatsu way more than it bothers me. But still. (^_^)
