I promised myself last year that I wouldn't be going to Burning Man this year. Apparently, I don't keep my promises to myself very well as I'll be heading out for the desert in a few. The buttpacks are for cars and work. The rucksacks are in everyone's bedroom. The rest of the list is for when there is time to load up a vehicle or two.

In addition to devices of survival and communication, I never underestimate the power of entertainment and simple carbs. A game of Dominos and a box of Ho-Hos could do wonders for your attitude, and thus your survival rate.

What your pal with his Cessna should include in his kit:

Clean underwear, a toothbrush, a half gallon of vodka, a pound of beef jerky, sixty assorted ice cream treats, and about fifteen pounds of dry ice.

He can always barter for some food water when he lands wherever he lands.
