Something other than a questionaire meme...

The bardic circle was fun last night. It was a small gathering (seven people) but that only meant that it got to be *My Turn* more often! I actually hadn't intended to sing or anything like that, but somebody mentioned Gwydion Pendderwen's "Songs for the Old Religion" album, and that got me reminiscing. So when the wand was passed to me, I led ( Read more... )

I 'friended' you on MySpace. Alaric the Blond, his gf, and Joe are all on there... they seem to think it's better than livejournal, but I'm with you, I'm not sure what it's supposed to do...

By the way, I think your web tribute to Gwydion is awesome, and this may be an inside joke that I'm unaware of, but Margot's book is titled "Drawing Down the Moon", not "Drowning Down the Moon".

Well Alaric, I wish I that the time to go to the Bardic Circle. I would have been one of the persons not knowing who Gwydion was but that is what the bardic is for to pass on knowledge. I am familiar with Steeleyespan and actualy have an lp of theirs. I will have to look up Both to see if they have cds available

Sorry I couldn't make it. I've been sick all week and Friday was spent on the couch like the rest of the week. :-( Maybe next one.

I know who Gwydion was. I think I have an extra copy of his double CD around here if you want it.

That would be awesome. I got his first LP ("Songs for the Old Religion") when it came out in '75, and the second ("The Fairy Shaman") in '82 just a few months before he died. Then a few years later I bought both on cassette tape. Unfortunately I lost (or broke or gave away, I don't remember) my LPs, and my cassettes eventually "bled".

I still sing the Lughnassadh Dance at the main rite when I go to the Festival of Tara in August. And I loved songs like There's a Home Far in the Mountains and the upbeat Harvest Dance.
