Best and Worst of 2007

The Good
1. I left the newspaper after 8 long, painful years as an underpaid reporter/feature writer who editted the family publication, but didn't get paid as an editor. *bitter* I got my current position in public school public relations where I am paid better and the benefits are kick arse.
2. I moved. I live in Greendale now. I am sending a letter to the Greendale DPW, commending them on their snow removal efforts. Seriously. They're stellar. I think we pay some of the highest property taxes in MKE Co., so they damn well should be.
3. I visited New York City over Thanksgiving to visit Matt. I had a tremendous time.
4. How awesome were the Brewers last season? I am excited for the 2008 Brew Crew and opening day!
5. How awesome are the Packers this season? Very. And, that makes me happy. Unfortunately, the only game I saw in person was a loss against the Bears at Soldier Field. Thankfully, my dad and I were in a luxury box. Unfornately, I was in the bathroom for their only touchdown.
6. I have nice friends.
7. I got a tattoo. It's a lowercase h on my leg.
8. Things I have enjoyed in 2007: Twitter, TV on DVD, DVR, "The Office" -- both the British and the American versions, "Freaks & Geeks," Wilco, Decemberists, Iron & Wine, "30 Rock," "Flight of the Conchords," "Colbert Report," the whore store, chicken fajita burritos from Chipotle with corn salsa, lemon drop martinis, the reserved seats at the UltraScreen at the Marcus Majestic, my kick-ass long hair, Google Reader, GroupWise Messenger at work, the occassional Jagerbomb, dancing, Packer parties in my basement, the "On the Road" exhibit I saw at the New York Public Library, text messaging, BarCampMKE2, Paste Magazine, "I am America and So Can You" by Stephen Colbert, "God is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens, Slate.com, Netflix, hanging out with my cousin Sarah, Ben Merens, six cheese bagels with garlic herb cream cheese from Einstein Bagels, I grew closer to my brother Scott, listening to too much Beatles, "Spider-Pig," beards, legal drugs, a bunch of movies/music/tv/books that I forgot.
The Bad
1. My poor Nissan was hit three times this year. Twice by Scott and once by a lady who wasn't paying attention. I am hoping this trend does not continue.
2. I had surgery in June. I still don't like OxyContin. It makes me freak out and cry. But Viocodin makes me sing songs, ask Kristi.
3. Being single is the suxxor. I dated this year. Nothing memorable. No love connections.
4. I turned 27 on October 27. It was my golden birthday. I had a nice birthday, so I'm not sure why I'm putting this under "bad." On my birthday, I dressed up as a vampire and went bar hopping with friends. And my parents threw me a party at Lucille's.
5. The writers' strike. I miss TV. Real TV not remakes of "American Gladiators".
6. I've done some stupid shit in 2007, but I'm sure I will do stupid shit in 2008.
7. The death of my cousin, Melissa.
8. Things I didn't like in 2007: Stupid boys, that I didn't get to see a Broadway show in NYC because of the stagehands' strike, how early the 2008 presidential election stuff started, how shitty media is getting -- i.e. coverage of Anna Nicole and Paris Hilton, I still don't like President Bush, migraines, the 16-0 New England Patriots, Tony Romo, "Clash of the Choirs," family drama, work drama, That fucking Soldja Boy song, commercial radio, being sad, when networks stick advertisments for different shows in the corner of the TV, Tyra Banks.
