I think you know what to do, it just sucks. When it came time for Ferris we were almost lucky because he went downhill so fast, it would have been cruel to let him go on that way.
The question you have to ask is, who are you keeping her going for? We kept saying that we wanted more time with him, and he would've been there for us just like always... but it would have been for us, not him.
No one who's ever met you would think you're basing your decision on anything but Greta's well being, so don't let that even enter your mind. Focus on Greta. What does she need? How's her quality of life? Is it in her best interest to stay with you?

I think it's a very lucky percentage of people who get to say "[my pet] let us know it was time"- I come from a long line of "Lets-wait-and-See" people, not wanting to rush our beloved pets on to their great reward, and I'm honestly not sure that was the best way to go in each case. And whenever you do it, it will never feel right, because Greta is your first baby. But you treated her so well during her whole long, fur shedding life, that whenever the time comes, I know you will do it in a way that is 100% the way Greta would want it if she could speak Human.
I'm so sorry, Heather. It is so utterly heartbreaking, she's been with you for so long. Trying to be as objective as I can, I think you should put her down. You are NOT and would NEVER do it as a convenience for yourself - of course you wouldn't! You adore her. Your fears about her being scared and confused by the move and the new place are totally valid. If she's in pain/distress/something bad more than she's out of it, it's time. I am so, so sorry. Wish I could hug you right now.
