too many troubles | axis powers hetalia | 2000 words | england ; china | r | in which the first opium war ends. written based off of puella_nerdii’s never enough blessings for the hetaliaremix exchange.
Excellent writing there! Everything just blew me away - from the beautiful prose up to your characterizations. I never quite pictured England this way before, but given the time period and the fic context, it was rather appropriate. Good work, as usual!
Jeez, I thought I'd commented on this earlier. *facepalm* Now I feel dumb, please forgive me.
Anyway, when I say that this fic is hard to read, I mean it in the best way. It's hard to read because you've made England as chilling and awful as he IS during this period, and you haven't flinched from the ramifications or repercussions of what he's done -- you've laid his thought process out and made it make an awful, awful kind of sense for him, but oh is it compelling. Then again, the logic of this kind of conquest often is. *shudders* Really, the creepiest part is how calculating England is through this, especially juxtaposed to what poor China's enduring -- it highlights the reversal in their stations all too painfully.

Thank you so much!
