It was a weird episode (yeah... I know, it's a bit redundant to say a Supernatural episode is weird!). Lots of things I was happy about but a lot of others that rubbed me the wrong way

I agree that I want more of Cole's character, and for him to understand Dean's background better, but I felt like their interactions were very emotional in this episode and had a lot of depth to them. I actually really liked this episode

That makes sense to me, I get where you're coming from. I do think we'll eventually find out what Cole's dad was, and what might be interesting too is if it turns out that Cole is the same thing and just doesn't know it yet. :P I hope we get a lot more of Cole, I really like him. :)
I do agree too that I hate when they dumb down Dean. :/ Though sometimes it's the J's that do it, more than the writers even. There was a line last season about the Game of Thrones books, where Sam says not to spoil him because he's reading the books and Dean acts surprised and Sam is all sarcastic, "Yes, Dean, I like to read books, for fun."
Well, those lines were written as reversed, Dean the one reading the books and Sam the one surprised. :/ But J2 decided it worked better the other way. I'm pretty sure they were wrong. :( *sigh*
