Onew’s POV
“I will give you my blessings, be happy. Onew, don’t you dare hurt him, if not you are dead.” Key said and walked away. He just doesn’t know how much I wanted to pull him back and tell him that this was all an act.
Flashback
Ever since the first day of school, the first time I saw him in class, the first time I realized that almost every class I had was with him, I knew that I had fallen for him. I decided to keep mum about this, who would fall for a clumsy guy like me? Definitely not Key.
From that day on, I kept looking at Key’s way, I was contented to look from far, you were wondering why I never confessed to Key? I was scared of rejections and I was afraid that he would reject me. Finally, he looked at my way and our eyes made contact, he quickly looked away and I saw a tint of blush on his face, does he like me the way I like him too?
That day, when I stopped Key from falling, when I wrapped my arms around his slim waist and when I looked into his eyes, I found myself falling and getting lost in his eyes. However, he broke the eye contact we had, muttered a sorry and left. Suddenly I felt my blood rush up to my face, I quickly covered my cheeks and walked away.
In the next few days, everyone I walked past would give me weird looks and start muttering something incoherent. Just then, I walked past the lockers and heard someone saying something about me, “Did you hear about it? It is said that Onew broke up with Key for some slut.” Someone else gasped and said, “Omo, really? I can’t believe Onew is such a bastard.” I didn’t want to continue hearing and stormed away. Who the fuck has been spreading rumors about me?
Just as I was about to turn the corner, I heard someone giving me the weird looks as if I am an alien and whispered something about me. I pulled that someone and asked, “Who the fuck told you this rumor?” The girl was scared out of her wits and replied, “Key.” I let go of that girl and ran to the class Key was in, just then, the bell rang and I saw him coming out of the classroom, I pulled him into an empty classroom and slammed him against the wall, placing both my hands on his right and left, sandwiching him in between the wall and I.
“Did you spread the rumors?” I shouted, glaring at him. He nodded and looked away, as if he was too embarrassed to look into my eye.
“Why did you do that?” I softened my gaze.
“Why? Because I hate you Lee Jinki, you stole my friend away from me. He is head over heels with you and he speaks about you every time and it seems as if I am no longer his best friend. Fuck you Lee Jinki.” Tears glistened in his eyes and he continued looking into my eyes and bit his lips to stop those tears from falling.
He hates me and Taemin likes me. I couldn’t register those words properly in my mind. If he hates me, why is he crying? I felt so much like wiping those tears away, but I can’t. My heart, it hurts, I just let my hands fall and he took this chance to run away from me. I just looked at his back as he ran away.
I am sorry for not confessing to you, Key. Why am I such a coward?
That night, I called Taemin out to the park near my home. When I reached there, I saw him waiting for me with a smile painted on his face. “Wow, am I late or are you early? Or is my watch spoiled? Because I remembered asking you to meet me at 7pm and its only 6.55pm.” I jokingly said. “Nah, I was excited to meet you, therefore I came early.” He replied, the smile never left his face. “There is something I want to say. But promise me that you get hurt, all right?” I carefully chose my words to say, as I didn’t want to hurt him. He suddenly dropped his smile and nodded seriously. There goes.
“I’ve heard that you like me?” I immediately said as I didn’t want to beat around the bush.
He nodded and said, “Who told you?”
“Never mind about who told me, but you have to know that the one I really love, is not you. I am sorry for making you love me, chincha mianhae.” I sincerely apologized and looked at feet.
“Oh.” Taemin said, “its all right, I got over you, I have someone now.” He smiled.
“Really? Who’s the lucky guy?” I happily said, relieved that he wasn’t hurt by me.
“Minho, you know him?” Taemin asked.
“Oh, that guy who is really tall, looks like an alien and the captain of the soccer team?”
“Yah! He doesn’t look like an alien!” Taemin exclaimed and lightly hit me on my arm.
“Oh right, I am sorry, I forgot you are his boyfriend now!” I joked as he continued hitting my arms and told me to stop making fun of me.
“Taemin-ah, would you help me about something?” I asked him.
“All right, sure, anything for my ex-crush.” He laughed.
End of Flashback
Key, its an act! I shouted in my mind. I looked as he walked away. I don’t know why I am doing this either. No I can’t pull him back, since he wants me to hate him so much, I will grant his wish.
Flashback
“So, what do you want me to help you with? Homework? Project?” Taemin asked.
“No, I want you to help me and act as couple with me.” I seriously said.
“Huh? What? Why?” Taemin was shocked.
I then explained to him what happened that afternoon, in detail. “I shall grant his wish since he wants me to hate him,” I added.
“But you clearly like him! Why don’t you try and make him like you too? Maybe he likes you too, maybe he…”
I interrupted, “No, he doesn’t, please just help me this time.”
“All right, all right. Just don’t blame me if something goes wrong.” Taemin smiled.
End of flashback
I immediately ran to the bench and hid my face in between my hands, sobbing uncontrollably, Taemin ran after me and he saw me sobbing.
“Let it out, you will feel much better.” Taemin said.
I didn’t say anything else, I just lied on Taemin’s shoulder and cried my heart out. “I-I really loved him.” I said my feelings out, “but he doesn’t. He wants me to hate him. But it hurts me so much to hate him. Why?”
Taemin just patted me on my back and comforted me.
Maybe, just maybe, everything just wasn’t meant to be.
