Contest of Losers

I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there who is a bigger loser than I am and can usurp my self-designated title of dishonor. Granted, it's not a contest anyone would want to win but out of everyone I know, I think I'm the biggest loser. -People who are the victims of forces primarily or entirely outside of their control

This, in my mind, describes you. Therefore, by your own definition, I cannot classify you as a loser.

I propose to you that the reason you're calling yourself a loser, is because you're working from the axiom that normal people can, and should, be able to elevate themselves to success no matter where they start from.Yes and I do believe that is true in places like the United States. Beating yourself up for the past is not gonna help. It may seem fake, but there really is a Power Of Positive Thinking. Nothing magical, but it's healthier and leads to better choices. Fake it for awhile if you have to, but chin up. If you do that and do your best in life, you're no loser.

Actually I just read an article that the idea that positive thinking is cure-all to one's problems is a myth. Realistic thinking is actually better for achieving goals than positive thinking and delusional, irrational optimism.

Annie Murphy Paul who is a psychology journalist wrote: "The faith we place in positive thinking is not merely naive but fails to capture the complexity of human motivation." Which I agree with.

Note that realistic thinking does not mean pessimism which is what most would classify me as. I like to think I am a realist but, meh.
