nothing anyone says is going to make this process hurt less. All you can really do is to try to balance out the pain.

For EVERY thing of value, there is a cost ... or (almost by definition) we wouldn't value it. You will hurt more than almost anything else. The only thing that I ever found that helped was -- as cheesy as it sounds -- to remember the good things ... to remember what it is that you are paying this cost FOR. (In this case, you pay the cost AFTER you have gotten the value ... but you still have to pay it.)

Hopefully, you will decide, as I did, that the joys of having that amazing woman for your mother offset the pain of watching her lose herself ...
