Which do you prefer: Stalactites or stalagmites?

(Stalactites are the ones that hang from the ceiling, and stalagmites are the ones that build up on the floor.)

I like them both. Which do you prefer?

In Japan I walked through a cave that had thousands of stalactites and stalagmites and strange rock formations. One of the rocks had been eroded by water to form something that looked like the face of Satan. Apparently the sign next to it actually said "Face of Satan," although I have to take my grandma's word for that since I can't read Japanese.

I like stalagmites.

The trick to remembering which is which is simple.

Stalactites
C for ceiling

Stalagmites
G for ground
