"I cut a star with my knife," Heroes drabble, 147 words, PG, Peter & Claire, set sometime post-"Homecoming." Inspired by
"Someone Else's Life" by Joshua Radin.
Claire gives him one of her senior pictures. It’s staged but it looks natural, her curly blonde hair flowing over her shoulders as she sits on the ground, hands wrapped around her knees. She’s wearing blue jeans and a light green sweater. It has her name printed across the bottom in a white font that’s meant to look like handwriting. She’s smiling the same way she did when he told her his name.
He stares at it for awhile, thinking of the first night he met her and every encounter they’ve had since then. When his fingers come away blue where he touched the back, he realizes she’s written him a note there, now faintly smudged from his careless fingers: Peter - You saved my life that night. No matter what happens, you really are my hero. I’m hoping you can be my friend, too. - Claire (the ex-Cheerleader)
