I had quite a bad fall when I was ice skating today and because I'm such a Blades of Glory fangirl, the idea for this drabble came into my head.

Summary: Jimmy doesn’t like to fall
Warnings: None
The first time Jimmy fell in front of Darren he cried solidly for an hour. He so badly wanted to impress his new father and all Darren could say after the four year old Jimmy hit the hard, cold surface of the ice was “Get up. Do it again, and don’t fall this time.” Coach had later told Jimmy that falling was ok; that he had the “Wet ass of a winner” but Jimmy knew better. Falling was not ok. Falling was tantamount to failing. He would practice and practice until he could barely breathe, but he wouldn’t fall again.
*** *** *** ***
When he fell in front of Chazz during the Fire and Ice routine he was both angry and frightened; and above all he was embarrassed. He had never fallen in competition, never. And it was all that fat sack of crap’s fault that he was going to lose. But then the older man had held his hand out to Jimmy and looked at him so sincerely; then he had told him that is was OK: that they could do this. And as Jimmy reached out his own hand and stood up, he began to think that just maybe, they could.
