Severus got into bed and pulled the red and gold covers up to his chin. He let out a sigh and found a small smile creeping across his face. Today had been fantastic. He’d been sorted into Gryffindor with Lily (despite the Sorting Hat telling him he’d do well in Slytherin) and Sirius had given him a slap on the back and a huge grin. Black didn’t even know Severus and he’d still smiled at him. No one ever grinned at Severus without it being followed by some horrible prank.
Snape felt like this was the start of something great.
