I met him, summer of 2003. And scored an autograph -- he was super old, super frail, but he still read a beautiful poem at an old gothic cathedral in his hometown, Krakow.
There is a professor here, Bogdana Carpenter, who worked pretty closely with Milosz for a while in California, where I believe she did her graduate work.
