[prompt: "haunt me" write a drabble about one character watching over another]
Yunho loses socks, keys, phones, toothbrushes, and anything he can get his hands on. He pops buttons off of shirts while trying to put them on and he fumbles with shoelaces.
It’s not surprising that these character traits follow him into the next life, even if Changmin doesn’t.
Changmin feels content with shadowing the reincarnated Yunho, watching as the former, older boy, and leader grows up without pain.
He’d never admit it, but if Yunho had grown up any other way, Changmin would’ve thrown a fit with the administrative office up top.
“Don’t you think he’s had enough?” Changmin would’ve argued. “Give him this one.”
Yunho grows up handsomely, Changmin has to admit. Changmin was worried about whether or not Yunho would grow up as his Yunho again, in a life without the fame and jobs at fifteen. All fears are dispelled as Yunho drops into 90 degree bows for everything that breaths and pushes toothpaste out from the middle of the tube.
At sixteen, Yunho’s got a shiny new car and can’t quite figure out why the doors aren’t opening despite constantly unlocking them. Changmin just snickers from the safety of the passenger seat, his ghostly fingers messing with the lock button.
It’s the year 2156, and Yunho races around his room, searching frantically for a tie while he smooths down his wild, teenage hair. First dates are a show to Yunho, an exhibition of his charms, but it can’t be complete without a tie.
Changmin sighs as he straightens himself from the dresser he’d been leaning on. He leaves the bedroom and heads over to the living room where his arms reaches through the couch and pull out a shimmery midnight blue tie, perfect for the occasion. While heading back towards the bedroom, Yunho bursts out of the room and runs straight towards Changmin. Changmin shuts his eyes tightly and braces himself for the impact that never comes as Yunho merely runs through him and thinks that it’s a bit chilly today while continuing his hunt.
A frown adorns Changmin’s eternal 24 year old face as he enters Yunho’s bedroom and sets the tie down on the ground in an easily visible spot. He takes a seat on Yunho’s bed and his puffy lips form a straight line as he observes Yunho almost slip on the wooden floors, but they pull into a small, bitter smile when Yunho’s face lights up in excitement as he picks up the tie and begins to sloppily arrange it around his neck in the mirror.
Changmin climbs off of the bed to observe Yunho from behind, and to Changmin, it’s as normal as not breathing to see himself in mirrors, but Yunho nearly jumps out of his skin.
The former popstar can’t yell “Who the hell are you?!” before he turns around in defense and slips on a lonely sock.
“God, no. No. This is not happening. Yunho! Yunho, are you alright? This isn’t right. No. No!” Changmin yells as he drops to his knees and cradles Yunho’s head in his arms.
Yunho’s eyes snap open and stare at Changmin for a second before his limbs scurry and he backs up to sit against the dresser and sets his wide eyes on the nearly transparent man in front of him.
Changmin begins to raise up his hands in defense, but becomes baffled when Yunho’s jaw flings open and lets out a hearty laugh, the one that he was embarrassed by whenever it appeared in front of cameras in a former life.
Changmin drops from his knees into a sitting position and can’t quite believe it.
Yunho stops abruptly and looks at Changmin with a loving smile and says, “Long time no see, Changdola.”
