Oh yes, 70 will do me nicely, thank you. It's quality, not quantity that matters. And three-score-years-and-ten is what I've always aimed for since my 20s. As I get closer, I see no need to modify the ambition. I have had a good run; it was just after I turned 60 last year that the body, muscle tone and joints started to fall apart.
And I've very few regrets. I've packed more into my life than most people would manage in two. Haven't written THE book, but that's just an acceptance of terminal laziness.
I've even picked the music for my funeral - the last movt. of Beethoven's Fifth ( a real triumphant affirmation); Piaf's "Non, Je ne Regrette Rien"; and Monty Python's "Always Look on the Bright Side". I think those just about sum it up.
