Why I Hate British Home Secretaries

I am socially liberal, and proud of it. I like the NHS and the basic safety net afforded by Benefits and Pensions Agency. I fear for our education system, but it's still not half-bad. I'm prepared to pay more in personal taxation to get the services I want. But when it comes to Governent and its control over the voters, I veer towards ( Read more... )

Rest easy, sir - although they have the capability for 24/7 surveillance, what they lack is the competence.

So far, so good . . . . but consider the exponential increase in raw data-processing power. Moore's Law ain't dead yet, even though there's a prospect of it flat-lining shortly. Add a few sneaky algorithms å la Google - and what lies 10 years down the line?

Hmmm. I'll be dead and won't care. My offspring might.

I am with you on this one. We are having the same fun over here and it is why I am both Conservative and Libertarian (Libertarians are a sub-group of Consevatives in the USA).

It is just one reason why I am so resistant to the very idea of Nationalized Healthcare. Unlike over in the UK, I can tell you we will not have the option to NOT have the Federal government have our medical records.

I hate the idea of so much shared personal information. I hate the idea of National ID cards. I hate all of that.

Because I agree with you - no matter who is in office the information will be abused and the government will work its ass off to increase its control over every aspect of our lives.
