I woke up at 4:30am this morning, stressed about work and couldn't get back to sleep. I frittered away time on the internet until the dawn broke and the birds started chattering. Great post.

I'm starting to hanker to visit SF for the first time and might come this summer. Any chance of visiting with you guys?

Oh, I'd love to see you and show you around! I know all the fun places. The music conversation alone is long overdue. And I know JZ would love to talk books and go shopping for girly stuff with you. Please come see us.

Is there a particular time over the summer that would be good? Could you put me up or recommend a place to stay?

I know August is a great month to leave NYC, but it's actually one of the least fun months in San Francisco. Very chilly and foggy, generally. June is usually gorgeous and by mid-July it gets dicier. Still, San Francisco in the fog is one its natural states, it just doesn't look quite so spectactular.

If I didn't have Emmett that weekend, you could take his bed (a full adult sized twin), and we'd be glad to host you. Depends on the timing and how long you wanted to stay though.

There are any number of local places I could recommend as well, depending on your preference. Everything from cheap/clean/well located, to classy parkside hotel, to lush hippy B&B, to very lush very posh B&B.

Thanks. You were on my mind as I wrote it, knowing you were also balancing the life in front of you with the life behind you; continuity and change.

Oops. Gotta go correct that "it's"...
