1) One thing I forgot to mention in my last post was that, although I in fact have been listening to the Hamilton soundtrack a fair amount, I spent the late winter being more drawn to another Alexander, von Humboldt. I read a good book about Humboldt (there are streets named after him around here, so I knew the name at least), which fictionalizes some of his discoveries.

Measuring the World by Daniel Kehlmann

It's in no way comprehensive, seeing as he did so many things, it's only focused on his work as a cartographer. But I liked the book.
