(p.s. Any suggestions for making turnips less bland?)

Garlic and Parmesan cheese.
I don't know anything about turnips, but garlic and parmesan make anything delicious.

No idea on the fennel, but for turnips, my grandma usually mashes them up with potatoes and I believe adds a lot of butter and a splash of apple juice. It ends up tasting good, but I'm not sure exactly how she does it - if you'd like a recipe, I can get it for you.

oooh, that sounds good! I think I'll mess about without a recipe, but I'll let you know if I want the recipe. :)

from the title, I assumed fennel was a character in some book or TV show, that you wanted to find fic about.

That was the point. :) You should come up for dinner at some point! I could even come and nab you from SC.

this is one of my favorite recipes; the fennel is the most interesting part. sometimes i use mushrooms instead of zucchini, and i sometimes leave out the almond. but it's the only thing i make with fennel and it is gooooood.

Omg, I love you. And thanks for the mushrooms/zucchini substitution, as I hatehatehate zucchini.
