A long while back, I wrote about the utility in knowing the shortcuts about campus, and also how much I enjoy knowing them. When the rain is falling and you didn't pack an umbrella, knowing where to cut into the chemistry building and where it will come out is a great way to not walk in the rain for a block. A woman just came into the cafe that I'm studying in. She looked weathered, aged. Looking at her, if I were taking all elements of context out of the equation, I'd place her at 48 or 49. But with context, I'm thinking this woman is maybe 27 or 28, broken down by years of drug abuse and homelessness ( Read more... ) -
