does it feel odd changing your name? It always seemed odd to me

it does and it doesn't.
It's odd because my official, "outside", identity is changing, and it will take some getting used to. On the other hand, I do think and deeply believe that it's fitting and proper that it does, as a reflection of what marriage means for us: we are creating a new entity, "us" that is more than the sums of its individual parts, and we want this to be acknowledged on the public side of things. Although mavnn isn't changing his name, other aspects of his public face are, and I am not just talking about wearing a ring, but the shift in roles that being part of this new thing entails. Me changing my family name is, in my mind, a reflection of what I wowed to do nearly three weeks ago: to leave my parents in order to cleave to him, and to submit to his lead, together with lots of other things.
Another way in which it's not odd is that for my own personal,, intimate identity, I am much more attached to my first name, and that's staying!
