I have just acquired between 18 and 21 meters of pure silk, some of it chinese, for £7. Now I have no excuses to stop procrastinating learning to sew.

crashbarrier, there was quite a lot left in the form of sari's for £2 each in the myton hospice charity shop in cannon park. Also, I have been offered the long term loan of a sewing machine. I shall be making ( Read more... )

probably boring stuff from your point of view - i will need to start with very simple stuff (cushions or something, I have some other different matgerial and ideas given that we have been slowly changing bits in the house around) just to learn how to drive the sewing machine, and then will start considering using this particular silk. In an ideal world the two matching ones (a deep emerald and a gauzy pale green with a dusty pink ang gold flowery pattern) will be transformed in something quite glamorous but not ball gown like for a wedding at the end of July..... I do not yet have fully defined inspiration for the bronze one with a wowen golden and black border.....

well, you *could* let me know when you want to go, even during the day given that I'm still officially incapacitated, and if mavnn has left me the car I could get you there....
