At 5 days before my parents arrive, I've realised that there are a couple of crucial things still missing for the smooth proceedings of the Christmas festivities, so I'm calling on you faithful friends, especially of the Coventrians variety ( Read more... )

I can help with 1 and 3 and provide a minimal solution for 2 in the form of large unused sofa seats, I shall bring them to demonstrate. Together they should be large for most people.

thankyou for having agreed with mavnn to come around later for the furniture!

Chairs can wait a few more days, and I should be able to come and pick them up if OK with you - storage space is at a premium in the current building site! :)

For the camp bed substitute... thanks for the offer, but see below

Thank you ever so much for your willingness today, even if we had a minor disaster afternoon, and thank you even more for being so patient and agreeing to come back tomorrow.

this is mostly to let you know that food is on offer after you've worked for us :D

Am blind. Should have seen this post ages before now. Yeah, seats and decent camp bed I can find no problems. Moving heavy things sounds like work, but I can probably manage.

as you can see above jorune has foolishly kindly agreed to do the work bit, and I suspect that his chairs are probably more viable (no offence, please, but if they are still the same I knew my parents' derriers would be mostly unimpressed)

On the other hand we would most gratefully borrow your decent camp bed; again we need it for Christmas day only, as its purpose is to allow elderly step-grandfather to have a snooze if needed away from the lounge cramped with 10 people....

Thank you very much for offering to help! :)

provided you do not have any problems lifting, we are still in need of manpower as we only just finished with the blasted last row of the laminate flooring - and therefore willing as jorune was, we could not make use of his services today.

Any chances you could turn up tomorrow around 6:15ish when he's going to come as well? with the three of you hopefully you should be able to make short work of the re-assembling wardrobe issue.

Food is on offer for all - thank you!

I take it that was a yes for food too.

If you have a plane, would you bring it with you please?

thank you!

sorry, only just read your plee..

I have a good camp bed if kev can't find his.

I also have a couple of folding wooden chairs that that the moment we won't be using on christmas day. As long as you have cushions then they are comfy for eating at the table:D. You can borrow

oooh, folding chairs...

that could well be an optimal solution, and cushions are really not a problem in this house! :)

Can we contact you for picking up later in the week? I foresee Thursday, but all is subject to change at the moment.

About camp bed: I'll try Kev first, but if I can't get hold of him or his by Friday am I shall impose on you

BTW you haven't given me your email contact for the stollen recipe yet... :)

Thanks for the offer, but it turns out that Tuesday night wasn't really free in the first place. That means: we need to be somewhere at 7:30 and I had forgotten about it.

mavnn however will be working from home for the last part of the afternoon, meaning that at about 5 he will be already home and ready to complete the wardrobe assembling exercise, until about 6:45. This will consist of swapping a wardrobe door and balancing a couple of short but bulky cupboards on top of each other to be bolted together.

If you are still free immediately after work, fancy holding wardrobe pieces whilst mavnn waves a drill at them?

sorry i didn't reply earlier... couldn't have made it either... it takes me 40 minutes to get back these days and i tend to leave late to avoid the immediate rush *read death trap* :)

I'll be leaving tomorrow morning, so have a great Christmas :)

Also may you both have joyous birthdays to celebrate. See you soon ... ish :)
