The young look like they're living in the USA. The girls wear those white skirts with wrinkles or ruffles or whatever and the wide waists. They wear white leather belts or belts with stubby pyramids of polished steel packed in tight rows. They wear wrap around sunglasses that fade, vertically. ahora, yo estoy en buenos aires. visito a mi padre, quein comprô un apartamento en la ciudad. it's all true, though. being here makes the US seem like the new paris, like we crap haute coutre (az iff i cood spel amyfing en engrish, even). the recovering economy, the homeless, the almost-but-not-quite first-worldliness of it all, tall, new, luxury apartment complexes and train stations that haven't been painted since the thirties...

how are the locals treating you? are there really signs all over the place that say "fuck bush" as i've heard from people who've travlled through south america?
