I was walking back from the MCB with Eboard after our *extensive* leadership training today when I see this kid acting weird outside of Mesick on the corner. Woot!
I've got a new job for the fall. I'm pretty excited about it. It is off campus though, at the School of Management. It is fairly similar to what I have been doing at my other jobs on campus- front desk work, answering phones, photocopying. It is better paid though, and hence worth the walk. I'll be making a dollar more than History and Africana ( Read more... ) -

Today we went to the National Civilization Museum in Hull today. They had a nice exhibit on the city of Petra. For those of you who don't know Petra is the stone city featured in my favorite Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade. Apparently Petra was the a city of merchants that made their fortune trading frankincense and myrrh. ( Read more... ) -

And the deed is done
So today was the day- I had my tonsils out. It wasn't so bad. They whisked me in, got me in my gown and took my history. I had nurses all over. They put a valium or something in my IV drip and I was in seventh heaven. The nurse was wheeling me down the hall and I was just smiling and smiling. Work is going well. I did six rivers today! That's not a whole lot, but yesterday I only did three...so I'm improving. I talked with two people today- another big step. One is named Scott and he's a retired Navy guy working at Delorme while he looks for a permanent IT job. The other is named George. George is of particular interest for the Simmons ( Read more... ) -
First day of work
I feel today was fairly normal anxiety wise for a first day of work. They don't really train you that much, but I *think* I'm getting the hang of it. Essentially my job is to trace things. Which is exactly what I did! I got my first manicure today in honor of getting a job. For all those econ people this is the epitome of the income effect in action. I love it, they are be-au-ti-ful. No one told me I get a massage with it...ah-mazing. -
I have a summer job!
I finally have gainful employment! I was offered a job at Maine Distilleries LLC.(not the one I applied for), but I turned it down because they wanted me to work every weekend and bottle. I was thinking in my head if I don't like coming home smelling like ice cream I probably won't like coming home smelling like vodka. And just imagine what would ( Read more... )
