Hey, don't apologize for "being such a downer". You're in mourning and you have the right to be so. It hurts when we lose those we love, and even if your message here isn't considered upbeat or happy, you have to realize that your memories of this person are the best you've got right now. In it's own form, by writing this entry, you've honored your grandmother greatly. You have your own recognition for the woman and it matters . . . it really matters. Never be afraid to express your feelings of loss. Never be afraid to share them with an ear that is willing to listen. It will never burden anyone who truly cares. Give me a call if you ever want someone to talk to.
Please don't feel like you should apologize for being sad right now. I lost my Grandpa 2 years ago, and I'm STILL sad about it. When I talk about him, I still cry. I think that your grandmother sounds like a wonderful person and if you ever wanted to sit around and swap grandparent stories, I am more than willing. I hope soon you'll be able to sit around and think of her and not feel the sharp pain of loss, but don't expect it to happen soon. When we lose the people we love, I think it is the greatest sign of respect that we feel how much their absence hurts us. It shows how much they meant to us in life. Rachel
