This is copied and pasted from my myspace, yay!
So this is a little late but here's the run-down of the Truckstops and Statelines tour at the Fillmore on March 7th with The Academy Is..., Hellogoodbye, Acceptance, and Panic! at the Disco.
So the concert started early at 7 but I couldnt get there super early like I like to do cuz my mama got jury duty literally the day before. which sucked so we ended getting there only about 15 mins before doors opened at 6.
So it was me, Liz, and Dana waiting in line waaaaaay far away and who should walk by but Jason, the lead singer of Acceptance (one of the most awesome bands everrr...but i kinda say that about every band I like lol, theyre just all sooo good). And of course im an idiot and blank on his name...which was cool so i ended saying "lead singer of Acceptance" over and over and he looked over and smiled, kept walking and someone farther down the line who is officially better than me at life remembered his name and called him over. sweet.
So then the doors open and people are slowly making their way inside when Mike Carden, guitarist of The Academy Is... walks out the back door and im like "oh look theres Mike" but im still kinda far away. So he walks onto the bus, opens the window and starts smoking. super cute. So i walk by the window and say "hello mike" in a really retarded voice under my breath not expecting him to hear me. But of course he does and looks over at me so I feel like an idiot AGAIN (last time I saw them he walked by me on a cell phone and I got all nervous and said "Mike" really whiny and gross and he smiled waved and kept walking and i felt dumb).
So inside the venue I go buy all my crap at the merch table (which by the way is LAME because the Fillmore doesnt let the band's merch people sell their stuff and instead use their own people AND jack the prices up 5 dollars so they make a profit. grrr) While I was in line I found Gina, Andrea and some of their friends as well as my cousin Liv and her friend Alex. yay!
So then we go to stand around on the floor and wait for the show to start. I could tell Hellogoodbye was on first because theyre stage set-up is crazy. They had cardboard cut-outs of Beyonce, yoda, darth vader, paris hilton etc. all around the stage. So yeah Hellogoodbye goes on dressed completely ghetto style which is AWESOME because they are just skinny nerdy white guys. They were great and I started dancing and pissed some of the lame "Im only here to see Panic!" people who had the nerve to tell me i was stepping on their feet...I told them to talk to me in 30 mins and see how they feel about the entire crowd violating their "personal space". Hellogoodbye played: Bonnie Taylor Shakedown, Call and Return, Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn, Touchdown Turnaround, Jessie Buy Nothing, and one new song whose name i cant remember. At the end they dropped confetti!
So next was Acceptance. and let me just say, I LOVE Acceptance. Their songs make me so happy and theyre so good live. The crowd started moving a little more during their set. They sang So Contagious, Take Cover, Over You, Permanent, and Breathless. AMAZING. I <3 Acceptance.
Then came Panic! Holy shit it got crazy. There was about 4 people in front of me at that point and a whole lot more trying to get there. The security guards were a bunch of dick heads and made Brendon ask the crowd to back up after their graphic insults stopped working. So Panic! was strictly OK.I mean, I love love LOVE their music. But they have zero stage presence. Brendon barely spoke in between songs. It was good though. They sang The Only Difference..., I Write Sins Not Tragedies, London Beckoned..., Nails for Breakfast..., Camisado, Time to Dance, But Its Better If You Do, There's a Good Reason..., and Lying is the Most Fun.
After Panic! was done, a TON of people left. It was lame, The Academy Is... owns Panic anyday but whatev, its their loss. I resisted the urge to smack them in the face with my purse. oo and I also met Ivane, a fellow Camp TAIer, which was cool.
So then I was second row and centered and The Academy Is... came on. wow. This was my second time seeing them and they were AMAZING. William is one of the best rock frontmen out there right now. honestly, these guys are fucking amazing. It was especially awesome because William stopped during "Almost Here" and started saying "we're not here on our first headlining tour because of some marketing scheme or how cool my shirt is...you know why we're here?" and of course me being the self-assured fan that I am, I point at myself. William saw and pointed at me and said " yeah yeah, you wanna say it?" and umm hell yes i did so i screamed back "it's us!!!". awesome. So TAI played their entire album plus 2 new songs The Fever and Pour Yourself a Drink.
After it was over i stayed up at the front and Tony handed me a water bottle and then gave Dana a set list. yee
