Clearly not. I've learned that the people who say such things generally feel they need to live vicariously in order to "have a life" rather than venturing out and finding one of their own.
Being alone should provide you with a keen sense of self-awareness.
Being outside lets you witness the vast world that you, as an individual, are a part of.
What you read and what you listen to (or create) should be seen as an expression of who you as well as a sort of escape.
As for your photographs--they're phenomenal as always! The first one, especially. It's such an eye teaser! Particularly with my LJ page that has a flat black background.
Maybe you haven't hung out with enough stoners or smoked enough yourself but I definitely see those people falling in with the last line. Weed is all about wasting time and forgetting everything. I hate it. Second time was the last time for me when I started freaking out because I knew time was passing and I could barely remember what happened 10 seconds ago. My eyes are being opened to a slice of veteran culture.... Come on boys, defend your country! Enlist for 4+ years when you should be figuring out who the fuck you are! You'll be put in your place and it will be good for a while... you won't have to question anything. After some time, you may start to hate it. You're likely to develop PTSD. When you get out, you'll be content with a life of "freedom"; having a roof over your head (of your choosing), clothes on your back (of your choosing), and food to eat (of your choosing) may be all that you now are capable of aspiring to.

It is fully worth it to go to the places where there aren't people, though. They tend to be more interesting anyway.
