I wrote it on the board for my teacher in order to ask about it, and you should have seen her face when she asked who he was.

As for the reasons why it is misread as あきら, I am still not totally sure, but I think, after a little bit of kanji research, I have a well founded hypothesis. The word

I glad that it is Ryoo instead. Like the sound better than Akira. And I really don't think that he would go around saying his name is one thing and writing another. That would be kinda like someone by the name Ezra saying their name is John but still writing Ezra as there name.

Akira would be a nice name, but it seems so common...then again Ryou is not so uncommon, either.
