First road race since the injury

I'm so looking forward to tomorrow. The DUI Association is running their annual 10k and I'm registered and excited. Their members are passionate about the cause so they show up to events en masse and cheer the runners on with enthusiasm. This race totally defines race day magic ( Read more... )

You are so hard-core. I love reading as you unabashedly relate details, like we are runners, too. PR, good kick, min/mile, LOVE the jargon.

You are all runners too!
Everyone is. For some it's something they aren't doing yet, some haven't in a long while, some can't anymore but it's fair to say that a full heart and wind rushing past your face is a universal joy. The nifty tracking gizmo, high tech gear and terminology are really just distractions from the most basic human sport. It's something everyone with two feet and a heartbeat shares in common.

Because I haven't uploaded the data to the computer, yet....I'll just tell you here -- after a 10-minute warm up at 5.5mph, I thought I'd do some intervals....I set the treadmill to 7.5mph....but instead of just running for 2 minutes, I ended up running for 10 minutes at that pace!!! It'll be interesting to see what the Garmin actually says about that run!

Have a great time with the 10K....I love that distance! I didn't quite make my 10K (back in May) under an hour this year, but I was close.

Good grief woman!
That's blistering for that kind of distance. That would totally put you in danger of bringing home hardware around these parts. I'd expect the Garmin to not accurately reflect that. That kind of speed almost demands a stride change.

I'm a huge fan of the 10k as well. They fit well inside my training schedule that I am ready on a day's notice and they are a bit technical since it's not a purely lactic acid game like a half or longer but it's just a bit too long to run at your VO2Max. It's like a really aggressive tempo run, with a bib and a clock. :-)
