Partly I kept bringing them back together beacuse I think there'd be precious few other people who could understand what being immortal really meant, and partly because I was feeling rather sappy at I was writing it! :)

I like the very grown up relationship these two have. They would kill each other (figuratively) if they spent all of eternity together. This is much better, and lends to far more interesting tales...*cough* *hint* *nudge*

Blame midweek dappiness... I do!

As much as I like the 'and they lived happily ever after' type of fic (and I do... I really do!) I think they'd have to come to the conclusion that spending to much time together could only lead to trouble... and time apart leads to fantastic getting-know-you-again sex!

This was nicely done. Spending an eternity together sounds good in theory, but in practice? It's nice that, in one respect, they are secure enough in their relationship that they can go off and spend a hundred years or so apart, living their lives with others, while knowing that eventually they will meet up again.

I think it would hard won security, and one that would come in time - they've enough of it! And there would be so few others that could understand about what being immortal really meant they always have this great bond pulling them back together.

I like this idea. Even though I've written Ianto becoming immortal, I just can't see them going off and living happily ever after for eternity. Loving each other for eternity, yes - but constant togetherness doesn't work in normal, mortal relationships - why would it work for an immortal?

I like immortal!Ianto fic, but I've only tended to lengthen his lifespan than actually make him properly imortal before. I agree with you, continued love but constant together is too much to ask I think. After all they can come back together whenever they choose to not forced to or limited by time... and think about all those pleasure planets out there to be explored! LOL
