Circle Pines

Many people have asked me why I stopped coming to Circle Pines a year or two ago, and I always responded that I didn't have the time, or the money, and in truth both were a combination in my reluctance to go. The quick succession of Center and Camp Directors was another, as I saw that the people who came in after Devon and Traci left were not ( Read more... )

This is one of those pieces of writing that after I've now sat down and read it, I feel like a more enriched human being for having read it. Thank you for writing something that gave me that experience! You're an awesome human.

I think that CPC becomes less perfect as we grow because the world becomes less perfect as we grow. I think also that recent events in the life of CPC have made it less perfect. I struggle with what you're writing about - because on the one hand how do you live in a world that was perfect but no longer is? It seems easiest to jump ship. On the other hand, personally, if I do jump ship, then it is as much my fault as anyone's for it's downward spiral - that is the nature of the co-operative and my role in it. Time, money, age, school, and distance have all separated me forcibly from CPC in more ways than I ever intended, as well. I often feel I have no right to complain about the co-op because I am a failed member of the co-op, at the same time my fellow members have failed me and we have all failed each other ( ... )

i've not been going to CPC as long as you have, but I feel like the knee-jerk attitude of circle pine politics is no different then it ever was. Liberal's insistence on having things 100% their way has always been their biggest downfall I think. The thing is that CPC is not balanced against itself, it's balanced against the rest of the world.

What up Cuz;

i dont think there was ever a time that cpc was about being objective and establishing objective viewpoints about the world.

i believe that cpc rightly attempts to make its people see through a different lens where the ideals of cooperation + etc are thrown at us to try to form our morality and character as members of a society.

which i think is most excellent being that we live in an individualistic society based on capitalism with virtues of greed and gluttony.
in life we have to sacrifice, sometimes vicariously, our own time energy and even our own beliefs in order to get along. humans are of course relational beings dependant on one another.

whatever troubles the board or diretors or whomever is having, i dont think should convince you to stay away because where else can you go be a dirrty hippy in peace?
