You read so much! I'm trying to read more, but I am a classic case of someone who has allowed their smart phone to be too pervasive. Which is not to say I'm constantly on it, but I do know that I sometimes fill up the corners of my day with the phone where once it would have been a book. :(
I've asked for several books for Christmas though, and I've been going to the library more again, so I'm redressing the balance!
I'm curious about the Doctor Who book featuring Martha- any good? And is this your first time reading A Hat Full of Sky? What do you think of it?
Hee, well, you could always install the Kindle app on your smartphone (or another e-reader app, for that matter).
But I know what you mean, I tend to spend a lot of time checking my smartphone -- it's easy to get distracted.
I don't have a lot of patience left for TV these days. When I watch something, I fast-forward a lot, or I spend time on the computer at the same time...
The DW book was very good (it tells the story of the year she spent travelling the world while the Doctor and her family were prisoners of The Master). I enjoyed it a lot more than some other installments--the DW books tend to be all adventure and very little character introspection.
It was my second time reading A Hat Full of Sky, and I enjoyed it a lot. Granny Weatherwax is one of my favorite Discworld characters, and Tiffany Aching is such a wonderful character! I love the relationship between the two.
What about you, have you read it? And have you ever tried the Doctor Who books?
I love the Tiffany Aching books, but I think Wintersmith is my favourite, it's so powerful. I want to re-read it again, but I've lent it out. I've asked for The Shepherd's Crown for Christmas, along with a few YA novels. I completely agree with you about Granny; she's always been somewhat of a literary heroine of mine
( ... )
I really loved Amy Poehler's autobiography--and if you haven't read it already, Nick Offerman's Paddle your Own Canoe was a wonderful read as well.
I enjoy Doctor Who (and find this season better than the previous one) but I'm having trouble connecting with the 12th Doctor on an emotional level. Same for Clara; much as I enjoyed her, I just don't feel about her the way I did about Amy & Rory.
I might give London Spy a try, I hadn't heard of it.
And I need to finish watching Downton Abbey, too.
I've been rewatching Stargate (SG1 & SGA, let's forget that Universe ever happened). And wow, were these shows fun!
