Jesus. Fuck.

Ok, so. There's this thing, that I love about going to the movies - I love watching the previews. And the last time we went, I leaned over to my son partway through the previews and said "I feel like I just got my $20 worth of this experience".

And then I'm all happy (Because ! Movies! Going out! I'm easy to please!) - and then the actual movie starts and It All Gets Even Better.

And your OMG ARTHUR'S INNER DIALOGUE AND AUTHOR'S NOTE was that for me - If I'd paid $20 to click through, I would have been happy just with that.

And then the actual story and It All Gets Even Better.

Like this: who clearly thinks of himself as a precise, steady, reliable and moderate person but comes off like a cyborg raised by feral cats: disquieting, dangerous, occasionally stupidly loyal.Which is a phrase I possibly want to write on my bedroom mirror, I'm so in love with it ( ... )

Thank you so much! I usually attempt to go with the no-explanations/no-excuses model of posting, because. well, it seems more honest, in a way. If you really think something is TERRIBLE, you're not going to post it, are you? But this story, HONESTLY, gave me so much trouble - I think I deleted every line and rewrote it at least once, and I was annoyed about it because really this was just an excuse for Eames in a SHORT ROBE.

I cannot BELIEVE how difficult his POV is - I think it's because he's just so efffing smooth in the movie; no appearance of any conflict whatsoever (unlike Arthur, who's pretty much pissed off for the whole movie, except when he's looking wistful, and then sometimes he does both of them at once gaaaahhh, anyhow.) It's great to watch a character who is an ultimate badass who never fucks up/turns every fuck-up into a new opportunity, but you have to WORK to get anything interesting out of him.

grumble grumble short robe.

Oh my GOOD God I love your brain. Helennnnnnnnnn! Jesus, your take on them is the best, the BEST. Is there anything more perfect than Arthur so on edge from the job that he loses his brain-to-mouth filter when he can finally come down and says something he doesn't mean to let slip AND YET DOESN'T FUMBLE TRYING TO TAKE IT BACK?!?!

No.

No, there is none more perfect.

(Also there is this, perhaps the best description of Arthur EVER:

It’s creepy and effective, which is about par for the course for Arthur, who clearly thinks of himself as a precise, steady, reliable and moderate person but comes off like a cyborg raised by feral cats: disquieting, dangerous, occasionally stupidly loyal.)

YOU.

Oh, thank you!

Now: ABOUT ARTHUR FINDING A BABY.

I have to tell you ARTHUR FINDS A BABY seems like just too much work. I can't commit. (Unlike Arthur, who agrees in a split second to take on a whole person, even though he had pretty much decided he was never going to even probably settle down, let alone have kids. OH JEEZ ARTHUR PROBABLY THINKS HE'S NOT GOOD FOR KIDS AFTER THIS ONE TIME HE SAID THE WRONG THING TO JAMES ABOUT MAL AND COBB GOT REALLY UPSET WITH HIM.)

Oh my god this was so good for me. I loved every word of it, especially Eames's careful construction of Jimmy, and Arthur meaning it and ohhhhh so sexy and sweet and hopeful.

Arthur is just very responsible, okay? It's not his fault that everyone else can't be relied upon to complete the simplest tasks without constant monitoring. Sometimes it's just easier to get it done right the first time by doing it ALL BY YOURSELF.
