VIKING UPDATE:

words: 25,000
self: STILL BANANAS
Time spent perusing Viking Answer Lady for Historical Accuracy verification purposes: hours
Primary emotion on discovering that COCK is not the hugest word in this wordle I made of my working document which I have pasted under the cut: complete and utter incredulity.

surprise! it appears to be a tie between back and hand, with a valiant showing from bed, mouth, face, and like )

vikings, i know

I...am. just trying to get through this experience so that I can stop having the following conversation:
Husband: What's up?
Me: NOTHING!
Husband: What were you thinking about? (while I was talking to you since we are out on a walk.)
Me: NOTHING!!!!!
Husband: C'mon what.
Me: ...vikings mumble.
Husband: Oh, VIKINGS, well, NATURALLY.
Me: ....vikings.
Husband: just tell me this has a happy ending.
Me: OF COURSE!
Husband, visibly relieved: Oh, good. that's okay, then.

25,000 words...I'm past weeping in joy and practically incoherent :DD

I have also spent way to much time on google lately looking at reference pics of viking beds and huts for more art...all for the sake of historical accuracy of course ^^ They had surprisingly nice beds with pretty carvings and stuff.

I'm not sure what you're drawing, but you'll perhaps note that I have taken the precaution of giving Arthur an extra nice and huge and fancy bed, far beyond what he could ever manage to buy for himself (and much nicer than he ever would buy, but you don't say no to a gift from the Chief for being the most kickass warrior even if it makes you feel sort of embarrassed.)

I'm not really sure what I'm drawing either. I did want to draw making out but Eames refuses to cooperate and just wants to lie on the bed looking resigned and a bit scared which does nothing for Arthur's mood. Eames is such a difficult slave.

welll, Eames has MANY OTHER emotions on his face throughout the story, so once I'm done with it perhaps you will be more inspired.

In the meantime, my suggestion is that you draw Warrior Viking Eames pushing Arthur down on his furs. or, you know, monk Arthur pushing Warrior Eames down on his own furs, where I think that Eames expression would be more like surprised, smugness.

You have lost your mind, and this might be a good thing.

I am torn between the urge to shower you with love and various baked goods, because 25,000 words OMFG! and glaring at you greatly because I think my life for the foreseeable future will be primarily occupied by the Viking Answer Lady.

*showers you with love and various baked goods* (The deciding factor was the prevalence of "cock" in your story :P)

Viking Answer Lady is a lot of fun and her list of attested Norse names is a *gold* mine.

But, have you seen Hurstwic? I rather like their explanation of Viking style fighting.

OH GREAT. SIGH. GUESS WHO JUST HAD TO REWRITE A WHOLE SECTION BECAUSE VIKINGS USED SOD NOT THATCH, FUUUUUUCK.

Okay, really, I am not going to 100% historical accuracy, obviously, just trying to paper everything over to make it SEEM RIGHT, and sometimes more information just sends me into a tailspin of, but would they have HAD OXEN, CRAP, don't look it upppp.

But this is very helpful, thank you!

Just out of curiosity, where are your Vikings located? There was a lot more material resources in Norway than Iceland, for example, where they basically had to import timber for buildings, and why the Icelandic longhouse evolved to be made mostly out of turf...

uh, an unspecified...scandinavia-ish..sort of. place.

WAIT, it's Norway. You know, what with all the Norse Eames has to learn. Yes, and there are timber and stone houses too, some with finely milled plank floors that gleam and some with rough wooden floors that are still neatly scrubbed and if people don't HAVE wooden floors for the LOVE OF GOD PLEASE DON'T TELL ME.
